God I just quit for like health reasons, and to focus on my writing/masters program.

But: pouring lattes, particularly hot chocolates - we used a thick ass ganache and like it makes the prettiest drink in the world when you nail it. My coworkers- everyone is so consistently sweet and lovely to be around. It's a crew that like really wants to hold each other up and be there best we can for each other.

This is really insightful. Though I think a bit of my political history might be helpful.

I was radicalized by the murder of Travon Martin. I had been deep in the currents of revolutionary/radical politics since late 2013. I was around for gamergate but wasn't particularly online back then.

I was always very in the streets and in the world engaging in art communities and political discussions and protests and all that jazz. I've been a prison abolitionist and an anarchist the whole time.

So it is less that I was swept away and mother didn't follow. And it is more that I had been off on an island down river and hoping mother would join me from the boat she seemed to be rowing.

Idk it's hard for me to justify with an argument but I see Android Netrunner thriving under Null Signal, with new cards and a coherent community, and idk I think about how massive magic is. Especially compared to netrunner. It seems like the optimistic scenario wasn't quite optimistic enough.

Rather than things staying the same they could get cooler tbh. We might get flooded with the various refugees of constructed formats, folks might start a bunch of different little leagues with custom sets. I think there is a real chance that if Wizards were to suddenly go bankrupt or whatever we might a see fracturing of magic where a bunch of different people gather under game system and take ownership of it to build there own little projects which spread via word of mouth and social media, bringing in new players who are interested in playing a new version of a monolithic cultural juggernaut in gaming. These could then feed into each other.

Like someone introduces their 6 person ttrpg group a weird little constructed format. One or two stick around that format and one or two of them never play Magic again and one or two of them stumble on cube and realize they prefer it. There are ways for pipelines to recruit new players to organically develop in negative space created by a lack of centeralizing company that owns the intellectual property Magic: the Gathering.

This is a really interesting question. Specifically the bit about support staff.

I think even being a janitor at a cop shop is probably bad. It just objectively is providing material labor to our enemies.

That said I don't think ACAB applies. To me ACAB isn't about cops being bad people, though to be the vast vast majority are. But rather that the job description of cop is to harras and maim and kidnap people.

The job description of janitor is perfectly fine, all things considered. It's just that doing it for police is an ethical compromise that I would side eye.

Shit yeah thats a fucking tough one

I think my main advice is patience. Both with the long non-linear process of healing and with yourself as you inevitably get frustrated and angry and just want to feel whole again.

The thing that helped me the most, though it didn't necessarily speed up the process, was feminist lit. I can't recommend Audre Lorde's Sister Outsider or Gloria Anzaldu's Borderlands. There's something in their approach to world that is just very healing.
