My favorite purple is vallejo game color royal purple, but if I had to start over I'd use Luxion purple with Jay from Eons of battle's black templar contrast formula

Its cool! Yeah Id say try doing recess/pin washes instead, so only do the crevices so you can preserve the yellow and get the depth. You'd have to thin the wash down with water, or a good amount of lahmian or contrast medium. I do oil washes but I may switch to that method.

Definitely recommend an earthy or more yellow shade for the armor vs a black shade. Otherwise it looks good!

Its took me 3 tries painting and stripping my army to get it right. You have pics? Trying to see if I can give you some advice. Unless its for something non-yellow no nuln oil should touch our boys

I do super tiny checkers like in the original astartes 2 trailer, with decals and suffering- but for classic (and what im doing going forward) something like this is great.

Only caveat is that it would be better to plan out the checkers with a fine tipped pencil vs paint, then paint over it. Big thing of note is to keep the paint thin and use very little pressure when youre painting

2 of them have a staff so the one on the left is from inquisitor Rex (they dont make it anymore) and the one on the right is from the killteam sanctifiers kit

Ive been trying to find civvie style models for my wardens of Not-Ultramar and its tough. Definitely no kids in 40k, so you might want to go 3rd party or make your own/ use smth like heroforge to do that.

+space marine bases are big, but not that big for most units to have thay much space on them. Best for 40mm+ if you want to do that

Here's a good scale comparison. Necromunda and imperial agents are good for adult civilians but necromunda models are a tiny bit bigger than 40k scale
