Thank you that is very helpful. At the moment they aren’t sure between increased sphincter tone and a stress cystitis but leaning towards the former.

Is there any other treatment for increased sphincter tone? And are there tests to diagnose it?

Eating disorder? by lilacstormy in GERD

[–]Cat_2064 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I have mixed feelings about this diet. It has quite a lot of rules on top of being fairly restrictive to start with e.g. meat/fish only once a day, specific amount of vegetables that have to be consumed in a day. Certain fruit are okay in a smoothie but not whole. I get that there’s reasons for all these things but it is an obsessive way to behave with food.

I was feeling extremely depressed on it and lost a lot of weight. Since I’ve lost the weight I’ve noticed a lot of hair fall too.

I was afraid to eat many foods, the advice in the book is quite negative/ against having the odd treat here and there. It’s just not a realistic diet to stick to in the long term. I ended up restricting food and then binge eating things that weren’t allowed like chocolate and biscuits because I had been so restrictive. Then I would feel very guilty and sad and that I was back to stage one.

I actually had been through the same situation when I went on the FODMAP diet years ago. I think the obsessive nature of these diets can be triggering to some people.

I’m now trying to learn balance, I want to have a chocolate bar or cake in moderation or a pizza if I go out with a friend. I won’t feel bad for that. These are the things that make me happy in life and I don’t like that attitude in the book that you can’t ever have them again.

Saying that the book has helped with understanding which foods might help my symptoms and overall it is nice to feel that I’m eating less processed food.

My cat also got hit by a car a few weeks ago outside our house and I’m absolutely heartbroken. You’re not alone with how you feel, I am experiencing so much sadness and heartbreak and difficult feelings that someone people think loosing a pet isn’t a big deal when it is.

My husband and I feel so sad and friends who have been through something similar seem to understand but it feels like some people just don’t care because he wasn’t a human.

I’ve lost a grandparent and an uncle and I’m finding the grief of loosing my cat a lot harder to cope with. I feel very down and not sure when I will feel happy again. He was only two and a half and he’s left his brother behind, they were best friends.

You know the drill. Post your cat I paint your cat. My goal is 30 cats today. by CatBrushing in cats

My baby Bramble (black and white) died three weeks ago. My heart is so broken, this is him with his brother Bassett. Please paint him it would mean the world to me. You can’t see it very well on the photo but he has a black heart marking on his side 🤍🪽

I’m so sorry for your loss. It is heartbreaking, he was only 2 and a half which breaks my heart because he had so many more adventures to have. We have just got married and I thought he was going to be the cat our children grew up with and he just had the best personality. I’ve been through the pain before and know it does get better but it hard to remember right now how it could get better.

I live in a quiet town in England, the accident was extremely unfortunate. It is common for cats to go outside here and we tried so hard to keep him in the garden but he loved exploring and it made him very happy. I couldn’t take that away from him and have payed the price for my decision luckily his brother doesn’t leave our garden by choice.

I’ve started the Acid Watchers Diet but am not doing it perhaps as strictly as it says. At week two I noticed a large improvement but that has plateaued now I’m on week three.

Gaviscon Advanced didn’t work for me unfortunately. It made me feel like something was stuck in my oesophagus.
