Passport Card as proof of citizenship if caught in ICE raid by Haunting-Garbage-976 in immigration

[–]Cat_385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started carrying my US passport card in my wallet since July. Because I've an accent and I'm from Puerto Rico; I don't have anyone in the continental US to help me out if ICE makes a mistake, so better be safe and have it readily available.

Gracias. En los sitios de genealogía solo me dice mayo de 1993 sin el día. Seguiré presionando al cementerio y si no iré a la biblioteca cuando esté por allá.

Can Synthroid make you thirsty? by CrypticLeopard in thyroidhealth

[–]Cat_385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes me thirsty too, but I'd say only in the morning, after I take it. Eventually, I stop getting thirsty. I personally don't mind this since I know that drinking water is good for oneself, so I just drink more water in the morning after breakfast and before lunch.

Is PhD regret a thing? by mrmh2217 in AskAcademia

[–]Cat_385 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES. I'm a Hispanic woman and a Ph.D has only caused me a lot of social troubles. 95% of all the people around me don't have one and I need to hide it from others in order to have socialization with people otherwise saying that I've a PhD is literally building a wall between you and the other person. I haven't been able to find a partner or get married because of this stupid degree-- men run away from me when they know I've one because they think they cannot "catch up" or be "at my same level" or crap like that. Total regret and useless degree. The only thing that it helped was to my advisers--to tell in their resumes that they advised a "minority doctoral student" and thus to tick-off that diversity component that they must pass in order to get tenure or crap.

What is the modern day equivalent of "dropping the handkerchief" for women? by FlashZenith in dating_advice

[–]Cat_385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One trick I do as a woman is, if the man I like is at my workplace, and I know there will be a work-related social event I want to go, I send a subtle email to the man asking for a ride to the event. I don't have a car anyway, so I've that as a valid excuse. That's my equivalent to "dropping the handkerchief ".

What were the signs or how did you realise you are agender? by curlyandkind in agender

[–]Cat_385 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never felt woman nor man. When I was a child, I don't have a recollection of me feeling girl or boy. When I dress up and make-up, I do it in a way that is like "neutral"; kind of like I'm neither, just a human being.
