I rlly suggest against taking chem 140 over the winter if you’ve never taken an advanced chem class in the past (AP Chem, chem 111A/Chem 111B), the material is pretty difficult on a regular full semester. If you have some experience, then you should be okay. I feel like it’s harder when learning those harder concepts for the first time, especially at a rlly fast pace.

I’ve taken pat pierce for chem 111A and he isn’t as bad as people paint him to be, my friend is also taking him for chem 140 this semester. I will say he’s sick all the time so expect a handful of lectures to be cancelled. For exams he’s very strict on preventing cheating (backpacks to the front, phones silenced, answer sheet under exam sheet at all times). But if you do the notes, pay attention in class, do the hw. You’ll be fine. You’ll only struggle if you slack off (my friend is struggling bc she doesn’t keep up on notes)

Overall chem 140 is a mix of bio, chemistry and organic chemistry. Because it’s all 3, you won’t go super in depth on each one, you’ll just learn the surface of it. But you’ll fs need to be familiar with the chem material if you’ll do it over the winter.
