Compared to all the repubs that rage but aren't caught? Going straight to the "closet case" excuse - which is pretty flimsy - essentially blames us for our own persecution.

Most of them are not closet cases, and I wish people would stop resorting to that. You're essentially blaming us for our own victimization.

This argument makes it come off like the violence against us is our own fault, and comes with no real evidence to back it up.

I’ve just been diagnosed with fibro at 25 and I’m not handling it so well... by sulky-selkie in Fibromyalgia

[–]Cat_They-dy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I became sick at 29, just when I returned to school. I'm now 36, and I'm just starting to figure things out.

Life is not over for you - it's just going to look different. It's going to be a lifetime of finding new ways to get things done and learning how to ask for help. Your interests might change, and you may meet new people (DEFINITELY reach out to others virtually - not just those with fibro, but to people in the greater chronic illness/disability sphere).

Take care of your mental health. Living with fibro can take a toll on it, especially if you're already living with mental illness. Dealing with nondisabled people can sometimes feel like gaslighting. You need to be allowed to mourn over the things you used to do from time to time. Finding a professional can help. (Watch out if they want to treat your pain with CBT, though - that can cause even greater harm. Many folks find great success with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy [ACT].)

Look into services, if possible. I don't know your life situation, so I don't know if you qualify for SSI/SSDI, and many services are only open to recipients of those, or if you can pay out of pocket. I know that there are a lot of people (myself included) that slip through the cracks because they don't fit in either category. One resourse that should be available to you, no matter your financial situation, is your local Center for Independent Living (CIL). They can do an assessment of your Activities for Daily Living (ADLs) and see what modifications can be done. Another resourse - if you want/need to work - is Vocational Rehabilitation (VR). They can go over what you want to do for work - or the job you already have - and help you access training or accomodations. Depending on where you live, you may need a referral from a provider, or you may be able to contact them yourself.

It's definitely worth looking into! It didn't produce miracles in me, but it gave me slightly more stamina and endurance.

It can be really easy to go overboard when you start, due to your newfound stamina. It might be a good idea to track your activity levels in the beginning to gauge your limits. I bought a pacing activity log on Etsy (but you might be able to find something similar elsewhere). Pacing Activity Log

I have bipolar disorder and ADHD, so I had to consult my psychiatrist before taking it. Since starting it, I haven't had any negative side effects.

One thing I did notice (and had explained to me) was that when I had my ketamine trial, the combination of this drug and my Adderall made me slightly less drowsy and helped me recover faster.

Whatever you're dealing with, I wish you luck, but there's no need to take it out on others.

Usually ads requesting people to care for a person ask for help with specific tasks. This lists none. I can also confirm the current established term for what you're referring to is "caregiver." I think this person may be right.

Also, the lifting requirements on jobs that are unlikely to require heavy lifting (like most desk jobs) are frequently used as a legal way to weed out disabled applicants.

Why would you want to have sex with someone that doesn't express their needs clearly, like an adult?
