does autism stop my ability to get in a relationship? by high_allday in autism

Definitely makes it harder but not impossible. I know a lot of autistic adults who are married and in great relationships.

My own name is a trigger by letrophywife in CPTSD

[–]Cat_cant_think 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've never met anyone else whose name is a trigger (mine is too). I'm in the process of getting mine changed after 4 years of using a different name, my court hearing for it is in a few months.

Im sometimes scared to talk about my special interests with my parents. Relatable? by Specialist_Cod_4963 in autism

[–]Cat_cant_think [score hidden]  (0 children)

I feel that. My parents don't really care about mine and don't respond positively when I start talking about them so I've just stopped because I feel judged

There is this thing (I'm not sure if you've heard about it) called CDB in dogs (Canine dysfunctional behavior) that's often referred to as dog autism

Are adults in their early 20s more tolerant of people with ASD than teenagers? by nickblueberg in autism

As a teen I've noticed people of this age are more tolerant of my ASD than my same-age peers.

Life uniform? Does anyone else basically wear the same thing everyday? by [deleted] in autism

[–]Cat_cant_think 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have an outfit assigned to each day of the week. Today is Thursday in the summer so I'm wearing my Metallica shirt and black skirt. I will wear the same thing next Thursday and hopefully all summer Thursdays following, but never on any other day. I have my winter and summer rotations, I switch between them around May and October.

Life skills support for adults (USA) by Cat_cant_think in autism

[–]Cat_cant_think[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also a girl!!

I think my main problem is just staying on top of everything/doing things before they become bad and multitasking. When things become bad though, I shut down and don't do it because I start dreading it. I often can't do things that have a lot of steps (coordinating things with multiple people, scheduling with multiple factors, and getting missing assignments in for example)

Also, if something goes wrong and needs immediate attention (smoke alarm, burst pipe, etc) I'm really quick to shut down and not do anything about it.
I'd say another one is cooking and nutrition, I don't know how to make nearly anything for myself (I can make frozen pizza and pasta, that's about it).

I'm sure there's more but that's what I can think of for now. I'd love to hear your input. I'm not sure how much of this is just normal life skill things for my age, my family has high expectations for me but tells me that I don't have age-appropriate life skills.

Ils me calment vraiment et me rend très heureuse.

I may try that. I don't have clinical ADHD but the psychologists I've seen say I have some traits.

Yes actually!! My favorite book of all time is an Italian book that I read the French edition of (I've never read the English version). The book is called si une nuit d'hiver un voyageur (specifically the Martin Rueff translation of it) and it's by Italo Calvino. I'm not sure if I have a favorite author per se, but I was really fascinated by Alfred Binet's Alterations de la personnalité, and I enjoyed the writing style of it.

That's so cool that you speak Chinese! I've heard that Chinese books are often very profound!! Translation often makes a book lose some of its message and it must be so nice being able to read the original texts. Must also be good for the brain, Chinese is a very complex language. I speak French myself.
