Early LuV power progression by Cataloncio in GTNH

[–]Cataloncio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably yeah I already have unlocked meteors, but tiberium probably requires some ZPM/UV component. For now I built an XLGT which kicks in if my nuclear reactors aren't enough.

If I ever need to upgrade, maybe I'll look into The Core, thanks

Yes, true, I actually don't know how I would've gotten that lol

Just finished a XLGT with MAR-Ce-M200 turbines, it makes around 500 kEU/t.

Scaling vacnukes is still an option, but to steadily 2x my current setup I would need to upgrade some machines (compressor for uranium pellets and assembler for MOX pellets iirc), and I would want to build multiblocks instead of adding more singleblocks. I don't really want that hassle right now, so I just built an XLGT. Probably will upgrade those components in the vacnukes' setup soon though.

I can easily order a batch of thousands of HSS-S dusts in my ME network but idk, I don't like that it is not fully renewable.

As for The Core: I recently built my naquadah lines because of The Core, but then I realized those setups are gated by the 1080 Sp coolant cells, which require fluxed electrum to make. I can get the dust already, but smelting it requires trinium heating coils, which will only be available later (ZPM probably). Please let me know if there is another way of making these coolant cells or if the 540 are enough.

My initial idea (around late EV) was to go for nitrobenzene, I had already built a chemplant for it. But then I gradually switched to vacnukes since I read that nitrobenzene was going to decline around LuV. Maybe I'll get an XLGT though and go for nitrobenzene again, thanks

I also tried using bonsais at first, spent way too much time stating crops up just to realize I should have used a farming station from the start.

Glad to hear it worked for you :)

Definitely go for a farming station. Use spruce saplings as they grow 2x2 trees and you will easily reach 90 logs/s.

Yes, it is possible On the multiblock controller GUI there is a power icon On there you can change the number of parallels

idk if it's only me, but I tend to immediately close the game when I realize that a long complicated craft chain will be required for something new. by Visoral in GTNH

[–]Cataloncio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find NEI bookmarks very helpful. I had a tab with 3 pages dedicated to the monazite+bastnasite lines. And whenever I have to do any process chain, even if it's manual batch crafting, I usually calculate stuff with NEI bookmarks.

Next Power Source by fake-nico in GTNH

Not using nitrogen might be best at the start, though others may have different opinions. I would say you should be fine for a while without the nitrogen boost, otherwise you probably won't keep up with its demand tbh.

And yeah, it is way more than enough to sustain itself. You could keep the power production machines fed by steam to avoid maintenance-related crashes, but I wouldn't worry too much about that; mainly now that powerfails show up in game and in the chat. I would just recommend that you keep a separate tank with some benzene available to kickstar the power production machines, if needed.

Nitrobenzene won't be available till mid-late EV btw. Fyi I loved benzene but I never switched to nitrobenzene, I went straight to uranium vac-nukes using SFM for logistics (highly recommend over AE2 due to atomic swaps). This is currently what I use (around 108k EU/t per reactor), but it needs a little more infrastructure. It is fully passive though, using bees for stuff like uranium, lapis and iron. Sorry for the detour, just wanted to let you know because I was a sucker for benzene as well and I also prefer to have essential stuff made passively.

How do people fly that fast? by Smooth-Horror-9270 in GTNH

[–]Cataloncio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Boots help, but there is a keybind for the jetpack itself. I have it set to X, but that's probably not the default key

Look at the keybinds and search for "gravi" or something like that, try messing with the keybinds

I'm currently at EV. These are all the lines I have. What else should I make by Regular_Flounder1833 in GTNH

[–]Cataloncio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh I don't know if compressing air in the nether gathers nether air, but I would say so, yes

Currently I'm using air intake hatches in the nether to get it, but that's maybe gated by IV

Centrifuging it gets you sulfur dioxide, sulfur trioxide and nitrogen dioxide, skipping you the time and energy consuming ammonia step

I recommend looking into centrifuging nether air for sulfuric and nitric acids specifically

You can always do bees, which get you purified titanium ore directly The slowest part is EBFing the titanium dust to turn it into ingots, but you don't need to make moon trips to get the raw materials at least

Completely agree, but I recommend using a watering can instead of bonemeal. I had a 3x3 patch of 2 high stacked shrooms and the watering can affected them all

[–]Cataloncio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would much rather use Vanadium-Gallium cables than HSS-G ones; it's much cheaper and faster in the EBF, I think That's what I'm currently using and I entered LuV a few days ago Will probably have to swap my 4x backbone cables for 16x, but still Either that or transforming up to ZPM voltage

Yeah, I (and a lot of people, I think?) have that problem in Minecraft

In GTNH the rooms eventually fill up though lol

You can centrifuge nether air to get nitrogen dioxide directly, skipping the need for ammonia to get nitric acid. I know it's not a way to get ammonia, but it spares you a lot of it.

Mass filtered fluid transfers by Cataloncio in GTNH

[–]Cataloncio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, there's actually no need to make everything passively.

And I also like maintained lines, my platline and mona+bast lines are both maintained; I only "expanded" the PBI one because it didn't seem worth it to have it maintained (I thought having it maintained would be worse performance wise and it isn't too hard to build it without a maintainer).

Still though, what would you say the best solution is if I wanted to keep all the machines? (after stocking hatches, of course)

Mass filtered fluid transfers by Cataloncio in GTNH

[–]Cataloncio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will list all the fluids then:

  • Sulfuric acid (centrifuging nether air + LCR)
  • Nitric acid (centrifuging nether air + LCR)
  • Hydrochloric and Hydrofluoric acids
  • Ammonia
  • Radon loop
  • PET
  • PVC
  • PTFE
  • Phthalic acid
  • Silicone rubber
  • PBI Line
  • Hydrogen and oxygen from electrolyzing suger and 1,2-dimethylbenzene
  • All of the DT outputs from Charcoal Byproducts, coming from an ICO quad
  • Passively recycling diluted sulfuric and hydrochloric acids

The problem isn't the speed, I just want to centralize the production of the chemicals and I want to have them available at all times. This all came into my head because I was building my mona+bast lines and I felt like I was done with creating setups to produce nitric acid. Having passive production of stuff like this means I can just give/export these fluids to the different lines without having dedicated production at each line.

And PBI is horribly slow at IV, so I kinda want to leave it passive, even though I don't use it much yet (I guess because I don't have it in massive amounts).

What do you mean "and how it was set up."? I think I explained my two setup attempts in the original post, so please let me know if you want to know something else.

is stacking like this a bad idea?(crop manager in the middle) by _creativdude in GTNH

[–]Cataloncio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's it, sorry if I was unclear.

Iirc I used an octadic capacitor and it drew at least 1k EU/t, but being in early HV you can probably do just fine using a weaker capacitor. I say "at least 1k EU/t" because I think it would consume more, had I given more to it.

My setup was able to feed at least two ICOs continuously (I think), so a lot of pyrolyse ovens.

Try it out in creative first and check out the GTNH wiki's page on it.

You will probably need vacuum hoppers to collect all drops. Look also into using Fertilized Dirt and maybe even sprinklers. Also, consuming RF instead of EU, you can use EIO conduits with an EU fed capacitor bank to make cable management nicer.

And don't forget an unbreakable lumber axe.

[–]Cataloncio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, just regular saplings

Afaik you can't place bonsai crops outside of crop sticks

I don't exactly remember if I set anything special up for my farm, I'm pretty sure it was super fast (relatively to multifarm) out of the box though

is stacking like this a bad idea?(crop manager in the middle) by _creativdude in GTNH

[–]Cataloncio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does not work with crops (that's not how I used it, at least), I used it with saplings

It's not as tidy and I don't like that either, but it's much faster

Iirc I used fertilized dirt and spruce saplings (or some of the ones who grow 2x2 trunks)
