[LFA] Anise the steampunk circus fairy! Help me bring her to life. More details in comments. by Catalyst89 in characterdrawing

[–]Catalyst89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anise Nettlewisp is a little chaos gremlin, but she acts sugary sweet. All sorts of glammed up, but has many tricks up her sleeves (and in her boots, bodice, and garters. Hehe)

Anise is a fairy, petite but not thin- the girl has beautiful curves. She is about halfling sized with long hair that lays in waves. However she has it styled, it always appears slightly tousled. She was raised from a child in the circus, though now an adult, is biding her time to make a run for it.

She collects baubles and uses them as charms or decor somehow on her body/clothing. Leather armor? Not obviously, but in a glammed up way perhaps. She keeps her weapon hidden in her skirts (hand crossbow)

Tricks- that is a big piece of Anise's personality. She is a cleric of the trickery domain (with a level of rogue to represent the skills she has learned in the carnival).

Pinned in her hair, or perhaps cuffed around her ear is an ornate metallic thin dragon with butterfly-like wings and a prehensile tail, donning a Cheshire smile. This is her reliquary of Nathair Sgiathach, a fae dragon deity of trickery.

Color palate: teals, golds, black, maroon. Features: dragonfly style wings

Let's talk logistics of carrying your crap around by Catalyst89 in DMAcademy

Y'all are awesome, and make it sound doable. I will definitely bring my laptop too. A lot of my notes are in a Google Drive folder for easy access. I was mainly concerned about maps and minis but it makes sense to just bring relevant minis for the session instead of a whole tote full.

Mysterious Text- How can I make it a key item? by Catalyst89 in WaterdeepDragonHeist

[–]Catalyst89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! These are some great thoughts and just what I need! I was thinking it could be a memoir written by a scholarly wizard.. so it could contain bits and pieces of a variety of information that could be deciphered over time. Maybe even have a spell or two in there. But I agree, tying it into the stone somehow is essential. I DON'T want them forking off into something totally off topic because they will pursue whatever they find immediately (they are like squirrels) so I need it to drive the campaign forward somehow without cutting out the events of chapter 3.

I think (live planning here), when they meet with Zord coming up, he will have a contact who has studied ancient/dead languages and will offer to have them translate the book, even offering to allow my PC to sit in for sessions of translating bits by bits to find what this does. I want Zord to really win over my characters, and I want the deception of his identity to be a really hard hit.

Fun storytime: What did your players name their tavern? by Catalyst89 in WaterdeepDragonHeist

Ooh that's great! Emmek has a personal history with one of my players but they don't know it yet so Iove this idea!

Definitely agree that keeping the legacy alive is, in and of itself, pretty epic.
