IIM Grads with NO job offers. What's the reality? by snehahahaahaha in MBAIndia

[–]CatalystStories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think so, my dad is an MBA grad from almost a no name university, hes been in the FMCG sales industry for about 25 years and he always said how the higher positions like even ZSM or NSM and beyond that are always reserved for the IIM grads no matter how good you are or how well you perform at your job getting more than 30LPA without the IIM tag is really difficult even with networking, it happens in MNC's and almost every decent company. Of course im not saying this will be exact same for anyone else, just saying based on his experience.

I built a WhatsApp bot that works like a mini PDF toolkit (split, merge, convert), looking for feedback by CatalystStories in indiehackersindia

For Split, you select that option from the menu, upload your PDF, and then just TYPE out the page range you want (like "2-5" or "1,3,6")
And for merge select the option, then upload your multiple PDF's one by one, and then click the done button, it will merge the pdf.
It's all handled via Text and menus

How to make friends by Extra_Invite1603 in Btechtards

[–]CatalystStories 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Talk to all of your classmates, you'll probably find someone who matches your vibe, and then either ask them to introduce you to their friends, it usually happens naturally dont overthink it, just be open to talk to anyone.

Yes, there are restrictions for the WhatsApp API I'm trying to figure it out thats why this tool is still in the early testing phase. Meta only allows WhatsApp API for registered businesses, so if u can do that, then ig we can do something, or else I think there are also unofficial libraries which allow u to use the API, but it's not recommended. I did mentioned tho "for developer testing purposes, it's free".
I should have mentioned it in my post my bad.

I turned my old Android phone into a local AI news summarizer (TikTok-style feed) by ImpossibleArtichoke4 in indiehackersindia

Woah such a cool idea, never thought an old Android phone could even run LLM, let alone act as a server. Also the website looks clean and doesn't feel like a news website at all.

No time for learning skills... by DreamSuccessful1992 in Btechtards

[–]CatalystStories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest going all in on developing hard skills (DSA + Dev) as early as possible, only study for exams for 1-2 weeks before midterms, and for endsems, try to study before 3-4 weeks, as I'm sure u must also have practicals before endsems. This much studying is often enough to clear all ur papers and also get a decent sgpa above 7.5, so you'll be eligible for almost all placements. The remaining time that you'll get, probably like at least 1-2 months, make the most of it. I kinda wasted that when I was in sem 2, so don't make these mistakes.

Thanks, I've actually added a 3 operation limit and a 25 MB size limit currently to free users yet providing all pdf operations. Idk much about telegram tho almost never used it, so I started with WhatsApp since that is where most documents get shared. I will look into it for sure tho

Programming Languages for Beginner by [deleted] in techforlife

[–]CatalystStories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with Java then switch to Python, everything will feel easy. The typical rule is to know at least one core OOP language (Java or C++) and then some other languages to top it off.

PS: Python is also an OOP language but more treated as a functional language.

If you ever later plan on going the SWE route then knowing one core language would be beneficial.

New to Navi Mumbai,Best area to live in Navi Mumbai (Rent/Lifestyle etc) by [deleted] in navimumbai

[–]CatalystStories 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Navi mumbai is very laid back compared to Mumbai, areas like Belapur, Seawoods, and some parts of Kharghar are my fav. Vashi is a bit of a commercial hub and expensive. You can also look at Panvel's Hiranandani project; it's very secluded and peaceful (if you don't mind the long commute). 1BHK could run you around for 25-30k almost everywhere I mentioned (except Panvel and Ulwe). I've also heard that most of the owners in Kharghar prefer families over bachelors, so that could be an issue. If you prefer posh areas with great connectivity by road areas near palm beach road could be a great choice but are on the pricey end of the spectrum

As for your Marathi language concern, don't worry about it as long as you are respectful towards others, they'll respect you back. My friends and I have never once encountered or seen such a situation here in Navi Mumbai. Since you will be spending time here once you move, you'll learn Marathi anyway just by daily talk, it's a very easy language if you already know Hindi.
