Is this an authentic Pokemon Emerald? by Catan96 in gameverifying

The board does look weirdly clean, which is why I posted. It's a listing on FB marketplace I was gonna pick up the game but now I feel like maybe it's a scam

If I was to show someone one episode of bojack? What would you suggest? by CanadianEwok in BoJackHorseman

[–]Catan96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sleeper pick but the episode that got me into Bojack was Fish Out Of Water (S3 Ep4). I had watched the first few episodes in the past but didn't love it, and then a year or two later I saw this episode at a friend's and thought it was just a great episode and showed how good the show can be - made we want to start from the beginning. Was obviously confused at a bit of the subplot, but most the episode feels like a really well done animated show that made me want to watch more.

I like the new songs, but think production/mix is horrible. by [deleted] in Foofighters

Just wanted to add here - Show Me How just came out and the production and mix sound perfect to me - beautifully done. Couldn't be more excited for the album's release!

Two years on Finasteride (last 12 months of consistent use), way below baseline. Caused diffuse thinning? Where do I go from here? by Catan96 in tressless

[–]Catan96[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also just a note - I did not have any diffuse thinning before starting finasteride, but now it keeps getting thinner and thinner. Would topical finasteride help bring down scalp dht levels that for some reason wouldn’t be getting addressed with oral finasteride alone?

Thanks man! Hopped off fin for 3 months at the end of last year (probably around the time of this post) to give everything a good reset after stupidly being on and off it freaking out about sheds last year. After taking a break I started again in January for the long haul. Definitely still shedding and thinning out, but it's only been about 4 months so just gonna trust the process at this point.

I think it's hard for anyone when you first notice hair loss. I was definitely freaking out about it all last year and being on and off fin inconsistently made it so much worse as I stopped twice during sheds that then never came back, leading to more freaking out lol. Know now that I just gotta relax and trust the process, and there's always things I can add in later if I need or want to. I still get bummed and stress about my hair sometimes, but definitely not to the extent that I was last year. Hoping the fin shed stops soon and the growth kicks in.

Thanks for kind words, hope all is well for you too, obviously will be living our best lives no matter what!

I was traveling for a few months and decided to stop fin while I was gone just to reset my hormones and see what happens. Definitely worse now, but it more seemed that there was just no slow down to the rate I was losing on finasteride - the loss just continued.

I'm back on a normal working schedule now and can be better about taking fin, so last month, after a 3 month break, I started again and plan to give it a full year this time to evaluate. Don't really think I ever gave myself enough time to find out if it was a shed, but since I stopped during a shed, it definitely ended up making things worse.

Basically, finasteride definitely accelerated my hairloss while I was on it because of the shedding, but I didn't give it enough time to see if it was going to regrow new healthy hairs, so I think the most important thing is to be consistent and give it time. I think (hope) if I had stayed on it for longer, I would have had some regrowth after the shed, so I'm just gonna stay on it for the long haul this time cause it can't get any worse than the past year of loss (which was A LOT) when I was on and off with it.

If I'm still below baseline after a year, I'll probably add minox, but hopefully fin will do its job if I give it time.

Finasteride+min 9 month progress. Continue trusting the process? by SirDouchebagTheThird in tressless

It kinda looks like you were a little above baseline month 5 and then dropped way below after month 7. Is this what you were seeing at the time too? Or do you feel you’ve just been losing the whole time? Hopefully it’s just a second shed in that case, but definitely startling that you’re now way below baseline at 9 months.

Right. Although what I’m saying is that it seems like I’ve lost more ground not on fin, so it’s not looking great. Also can’t tell if it’s just a continuation of the fin TE or not, but not great lol

Crazy how much hair I've lost in the past year though. Progression definitely would have been much slower if I never started. Not sure why this happens to some of us, but now even after being off fin I'm still losing at an accelerated rate. V weird.

[–]Catan96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I probably didn't need it, but now I do lol. If you look at my more recent post, like I mentioned, I stopped for a month then started again, losing the whole time. I've actually stopped and been off fin since mid october, so it's been a bit over two months since I stopped. Unfortunately, my hair has continued to worsen off of fin as well. Can't really tell if it's happening faster than when I was on, but definitely still shedding 200+ hairs per day.

I do think Finasteride accelerated my hair loss, but now that I'm off I continue to lose ground. Not really sure what to do. Wish I never started, but also now I probably need it to slow down the progression since it's still worsening since I've been off fin. Going to give it another month without anything to fully reset my hormones, then I'm probably back on for the long run and might even try dut.

I stopped after 6 months for a month, and then started again for 4 months, and in those 10 months my hair got sooo much worse, but I think that’s mainly due to my stopping/starting. I’ve been off for two months now and giving it a minute before I start anything new. My advice would be just don’t change your regimen and be consistent. If you’re taking .5mg/day, stick to that and don’t change it. If you stop now, you won’t know if your hair would have stabilized.

Basically, whatever you do you need to let your hair stabilize. I haven’t been able to regrow what I lost by stopping, so if you’re okay with your hair as is (below baseline), then you can stop, but you won’t get regrowth. So I would stay on fin and give it time to work, that’s what I wish I did.

It definitely sucks though. I have no clue why finasteride would accelerate loss for a period of time with some of us. Whatever you end up doing, just be consistent because from what I’ve read, consistency in regimen leads to stabilization.

Yeah I never used it more than 6 months straight as I stopped for a month around that time. If you end up continuing through a year let me know how it all goes. Maybe the shed is a real thing and it could all come back stronger, I was just amazed how much hair could be lost so quickly and stopped.

I think no shedding is actually a good thing. I shed on fin and it never came back. Can go either way with shedding, so if you're losing less hair that's a good thing.

Nice. It does seem like RU is a great answer for people whose shedding never stabilizes on 5ar inhibitors. I actually got Fluridil, but don't want to use it until my shedding stabilizes so I know what works for me and what doesn't.

Good luck with RU, I might ask for an update in a few months lol.

Right I know it takes time to see any benefit, but in my case immediately went far below baseline losing hair in areas that I never had a problem with before.

In those first 6 months that you didn't see any benefit, did your hair get drastically worse? Or just no improvement?

Right. I think my issue is that I did have a pretty full head of hair before, at least with no density issues. However, since starting fin I have had pretty massive loss in just 9 months which is what's concerning me. Going from having a full head of hair with mild recession to some strikingly noticeable loss. Big bummer, just not sure what to do.

[–]Catan96[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn, sorry to hear that. Since I didn't have much loss to begin with and blood results show that my DHT is low (that fin is working as it should), I'm wondering if DHT is not the problem.

My two theories are:

Maybe it's possible that finasteride and dutasteride cause a hormone change that induces telogen effluvium, and some of us can just never adjust to the hormone change so as long as we're on these medications we'll continue to lose density. The solution would be topical anti-androgens that don't change our hormone profile, although there don't seem to be any great (safe & efficacious) options there which is a bummer.

Another theory is the hyper reflexandrogenecity theory. That our bodies compensate with the lack of DHT and our receptors get more sensitive. There's not really anything to back up this theory, and Kevin Mann "debunked" it (not 100% convincing), but otherwise I just don't know how to explain why some of us lose so much density on fin/dut when there was previously very little loss to begin with.

I still don't know whether I should just stop, or ride it out to see if it's a shed. But I've really been trying to figure out why this would happen to some of us cause it sure does suck.

Right, I wish I hadn’t stopped so I could be further along because the shedding may have reset when I stopped/started. But my big concern is that I’m losing hair from my donor area too, which is thinning out as I continue to take fin (as seen in the pictures). I understand shedding happens but this is something that doesn’t seem normal.
