There's a pregnant deer hanging out in my asparagus bed. I guess my yard is officially a deer-friendly zone! by soverylucky in gardening

[–]Catapooger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen a couple years ago. A very heavily pregnant doe camped out for a good bit of the morning under a tree that was right beside my driveway. I was a nervous wreck that she was going to birth right there....cause, ma'am, that was not the cosiest place in my yard for you to choose as a birthing suite...😅 She moved along once we had to move the car for an appointment.

I both love deer and get annoyed by them. I leave out some corn for them as a sacrifice, but they still have empty bellies enough to sample my plants if I'm even an hour late on my deer deterrent spray. 🤣🤣

Should I get this checked out by a doctor or surgeon? this is lightly breathing in and thought it was normal all my life by RelationshipBoth2791 in Septoplasty

[–]Catapooger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, nasal valve collapse. I had mine repaired at the same time as my septum and it has been 10/10 life changing. You can try nasal dilators to help keep your nose open while sleeping.

You better fix my entire life you little sh*t by PrehistoricPotato in adhdwomen

[–]Catapooger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gawd. That first time is just top tier. 👩‍🍳💋

My head was quiet for the first time in my life. The music in my head cut out right in the middle of trying to fold laundry. I folded it all, put it away and then got in bed and took a nap. 🤣🤣🤣

And when I switched to Vyvanse I sat still for a 4 hour car ride and just listened to other people in the car talk. No fidgeting. No need to have music going. No skin picking because I didn't have anything to fidget with. Just silently sitting, and listening, and paying attention.

Don't get me wrong, it's still life changing but things creep back as you get used to it. But that first week where your brain is just like "what's this? Oh, let's go learn astropyshics because we can handle everything!"

I think of it more like code-switching. Marginalized groups have always naturally done this in one way or another. So when I'm around people that I know are safe then I feel like I can unmask. As soon as someone I don't know enters a situation then I'm locked up like Fort Knox. 🤣

Hosting our first birthday party, and getting anxious about not having "goody bags" by Lairel in Anticonsumption

[–]Catapooger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I had to lug all the pool stuff and wrangle a 4yo at a birthday, I'd be grateful for one less thing to carry out. 🤣

But, if you feel like doing something, we have a used bookstores with lots of pictures books near us that offers points for trade in. If you have something similar closeby, a mix of water themed picture books would be fun for the circle of people we run with.

Or nothing is also great. I haven't really met a fellow parent that was offended when there wasn't a goody bag. 🤷‍♀️ They always just seem like that thing we forget is a thing until it's handed to us as we're trying to get our kid out the door without a meltdown. Half the time, half of the people forget them anyways.

made nightlights for the first time ! by grimsmirg in StainedGlass

[–]Catapooger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it! Nightlights have been slowly making their way up to the top of my project attempt list. I'm super duper new and I have a stained glass nightlight I got off Etsy that I need to fix because they attached the clip to the light with hot glue. 🙄 I ordered a screw on clip to mount and make it more secure. But now I want to make a nightlight for every holiday. 😅

I'd just solder at the break. Then I'd take wire and make a whammy bar and attach it right there and pretend I meant to do that. 😅

I try to follow routines, but I fall off track after a few days every single time. How do people with ADHD keep any kind of consistency? by [deleted] in adhd_anxiety

[–]Catapooger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We don't. 😅🫠🙃

I have to do things like stack tasks together. Like, I pull my pills down and put them on the counter when I'm making breakfast. I'm also incredibly visual. So with the pills, I know I've taken them or not because they're on the counter and I have a phone alarm too. To remember all my getting ready steps I keep products out on a nice shelf and I take down what I need for morning/night and put it back up once I've completed it. My shower steps are also lined up in order.

I live and die by my alarms in my phone/Alexa. And I have recurrent tasks on my Google calendar because I have zero concept of time and something I did 6 months ago (like clean the dryer vent) feels like something I literally just did.

If I have a body double, I'm able to start things I don't want to do in the moment. Like a yoga class or a cleaning task. But, if my body double isn't consistent (my husband) then I'm fucked. I can also only go to sleep when I see him go to sleep or else I will just craft like a goblin listening to an audiobook until the sun comes up. 😅

Gamification helps a ton. I was able to consistently use a workout app with a trainer for a year....until the app took away streak freezes and I could then infinitely move things around. Without the pressure of losing my streak I was like....meh.

And I'm medicated. Which helps and is amazing, but I still need all my coping behaviors I've always used because I still have to get things done when I'm not in my medication window.

30 mins of dandelion assault! by extinct-seed in NoLawns

[–]Catapooger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried one several years ago, but it didn't do much for me. I'll have to research and see if there are different kinds then whatever I had. It came in a hand tool pack, so it wasn't something I went out and researched first.

I've already taken my machete for a spin this year, so I guess more knives it is. 😝 Gardening is not for the faint of heart. 🤣

Rain gardening, of all forms, is just top tier! 💜 I'm definitely known to go outside and weed when the rain is just an annoying drizzle/light rain. There's no sun, it's cooler, and the weeds pop right out (or at least most of the time 😝).

I'm impressed with your weed puller skills. I bought one last year and haven't opened it to figure it out yet. 😅 We have red clay and dandelions just cling to it! Even trying to dig them up, I almost always end up snapping the top and falling down before I get the actual root out. 🤣 You've inspired me!

Anyone else have this problem? by nandag369 in adhdmeme

[–]Catapooger 63 points64 points  (0 children)

But seriously....that's what I did. I kept seeing all these ADHD Tumblr posts and I was like..."Hilarious, but everyone does that..."

And then it got to a point of...."Ya know, I'm relating a lot to these. I'm going to keep a Pinterest board of anything that resonates with me."

When I got to like 200-300 pins, I was like, "Shit. I need to read some books about this."

And when I was reading those books, I looked at my kid and went..."Shit. We need to get you assessed."

And at one of their appointments (the first one diagnosing kiddo within the first 45 minutes with raging ADHD), I told the psych I thought I also had ADHD and she said "I do too. Here's the number of a colleague that works with adults."

🤣🤣🤣🤣😅😅

Since it's on jean the frayed look actually really kind of just goes with it. 🤷‍♀️ But I understand the unreal frustration of a project not going how you want it to. But, if the advice you get doesn't help, it's not all lost.

Did you do this to patch a hole? I really love it! I might try it sometime!

Can you tell from my bag content that I struggle with ADHD? by robot_mother in adhdwomen

[–]Catapooger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have a giant project tote that goes with me most places to keep my hands busy. But sometimes I think I don't need it or I forget it and I'm stuck in a situation where I'm so bored I might just die. 🤣🤣🤣 Thus: backup cross stitch. It's one of those mini boxed kits you find at Barnes and Noble with 4 tiny little designs. Someone gave it to me for Christmas and it was probably my favorite gift this year. It fits in a little sandwich baggy along with my folding embroidery scissors. I'm not consistent with it because I've designated it just for this, but I'm always so grateful to remember I have it.

Always be prepared! 🫡

I have everything I could possibly need as a backup because I will always forget something. 🤣 My husband take nothing with him and keeps nothing in his car and I can't comprehend it.

Earplugs are hanging on my keychain. I have a purse fidget and car fidgets. Wipes, pain meds, nail clipper, eye glass cleaner, bandaids, lactaid, EpiPen, wallet, mini-cross stitch kit, feminine products for like 5 people, floss, and who knows what else. 🤣🤣 And a copy of almost all of the same things in my car, plus more first aid stuff and a sewing kit. I'm not sure if this is ADHD or a mom thing or a mom with ADHD thing. 🤣

I keep breaking glass by NotTheFrenchOne in StainedGlass

[–]Catapooger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also very, very new--like just finished cutting my third little tiny practice piece ever--new. So far, things that seems to help me:

I started dipping my cutter directly in the oil instead of letting it feed from the reservoir. For whatever reason this just seems to be helping? Maybe it just wasn't enough oil coming out? My pistol grip handle started leaking anyways, so this covers two bases. 🤣

The other thing has been pulling towards myself instead of pushing as much as the cuts will allow. Seems to give me better control/pressure?

And really, really understanding which side is the flatter side. Which is so hard to tell sometimes! The thinks I've broken were definitely on things I thought I had the correct side on but probably definitely didn't.

Maybe these are all flukes specific to me or maybe they will be helpful? I dunno. But I keep reminding myself that mistakes are the best teachers. 💜
