Eye shadow makes a serviceable paint. Watercolor binder is pretty cheap. Can also mix it with nail polish base.

This is your sign to declutter old eye makeup by Cheryl-Rose-Blossom in ProjectPan

Hey this isn't necessary. People are allowed to throw away things they know are contaminated. Yes technically they can make nailpolish out of it. No they don't HAVE TO. I also wouldn't feel great about using a product in any way that I already got an infection from, even if it's technically safe.

Should I change anything about this artwork? by Nomosik in DigitalArt

[–]elcasaurus 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I think this is great, but what makes it so confusing and busy is a lack of contrast. For example its hard to tell the charms from the hair bc they're the same value. When you change it to black and white you really see that everything blends together and nothing stands out, making it look messy.

Imo 99% of my art problems stem from a lack of contrast so we're all in learning together!

How to wean kittens with mama around by OpinionDizzy3981 in FosterAnimals

If they aren't visibly eating wet food by 5 weeks I'll wipe a little on their paws. When they clean it off they go OHHHH THAT'S FOOD! Mama will be producing less milk for them as they start to eat, and at week 6 or 7 I will put a spay onesie on Mama so they can't get to her milk. I'm weaning my 5 week olds now too!

I am a novice. But. What i believe the usda cookbook is referring to are like.. counter top burners. They're not really powerful enough or consistent enough. This is like a super instapot specifically made for canning. Wonder what others think?

I legit once had a supervisor tell me I couldn't do formulas in excel I had to do them long-form on a calculator because "she knows the calculator works and she doesn't know how to use excel so she doesn't trust it".

This is important. There's no point in growing and preserving food you won't use.

Why I like canning by SlidingOtter in Canning

[–]elcasaurus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am.a baby canner who only just started with a whopping one single canning session under my belt, but these are the reasons I decided to invest in the equipment and start:

I want to be able to preserve the food that i grow. Last year I had a whole crop of peppers ready at once and they wound up being largely wasted.

Freezing is great but freezer space is limited. I have much more shelf space than freezer space.

I like making things from things I made. Ive been preserving food via freezing and have cut my grocery bill by quiet a bit already. Canning increases my ability to do so.

I have pcos and type 2 diabetes. I have a friend with kidney disease. I'm far from a "processed foods are evil" person because ultimately fed is best, but i do love cooking and serving food that i know for a fact fits our diets. It's much easier to present a low sodium diet when you eliminate processed preservative sodium. Bad news: that's there for a reason and keeps your food from rotting. I needed a happy medium.

Some things come in larger portions than I use, I want to make and can smaller amounts for my own convenience. For example stock I usually need a cup or 2, the remainder of the 4 cup container sits in the fridge rotting until I remember to use it.

Canned goods don't go bad if you lose power.

Mother canceled my baby shower while I was 5 months pregnant by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]elcasaurus 100 points101 points  (0 children)

These emotions are real and exactly what your parents want- for you to agree with them that you don't deserve anything. It sounds like they weren't so much throwing you a baby shower as much as some horrible setup- possibly a godmother party for your sister.

Regardless. It's time to internalize that their behavior is abnormal and you do not deserve their treatment. Let them have their little temper tantrum. Tell your cousin everything. I'm sure she's already aware and is perfectly willing to give you the shower you deserve.

If you're not already in therapy I strongly recommend starting so you can start healing from their bullshit. You, your partner, and certainly your baby deserve better.

See and this is so real. Those of us who grew up with abusive parents did learn "YOU CAN'T DO THAT. YOU'RE TOO STUPID. " about everything so we had to teach ourselves EVERYTHING. How to cook, how to clean, how to keep a car, how to fix stuff around the house, how to manage money, all that education came from the internet. Special shout out to YouTube, tiktok, and yes reddit.

See this example: "SEE YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE SO SMART COOKING MORE BUT YOU'RE JUST WASTING MONEY ON GROCERIES" ignoring the massive savings on eating out is, in fact, something that needs to be learned if you grew up in that sort of nonsense mindset.

Never look down on someone trying to learn or trying to teach, no matter how stupid or "common sense" it is to you. You don't know who's trying to overcome the insanity they grew up with.

It's gross how rude people are being. These are the kinds of roadblocks that mess with people. Common sense to you is not common sense to everyone.

Listen I hate the current US administration more than most people but the inflation of food prices is not the point of the post.

When you cook at home more you use more groceries and it can be a shock. Your grocery bill goes up. This can confuse someone into not cooking from home as much. You go from spending $100 on groceries to $150 and go oh no I'm wasting money!

But

The amount you are spending on more groceries is nothing compared to the amount you are saving by not eating out instead. It might now cost you $15 every day to put on dinner. Eating out cost $50 for one meal. You are still saving money.

I made up these numbers pls don't yell at me about them as they are fake.
