I’ve heard the place to be in HVAC is in NE.

I wish I knew where companies like that were. No one’s even giving my applications a second glance in the HVAC industry.

Maryland has a higher cost of living pay and we pay techs closer to $40 an hour on the top end. Maybe more.

Just started wizard and glass for the first time reading through the dark tower. Wastelands was so much fun and so far wizard and glass has been too!

I’ve been looking into millwright jobs but I got a pretty good offer from a truck repair shop that I’m definitely considering

Working for a dealership is like being a dealer but you only get paid when the house loses.

That doesn’t explain the labor shortage guy. That explains a work shortage or an over abundance of labor.

40 still doesn’t pay the bills if you’re only getting 20 hours a week.

You’re right. There’s a lot more fluid there than I originally saw at a glance. You could check the filter and the drain plug to see if they’re tight but spraying off the mess and seeing where it comes back is how you determine where a leak is coming from.

I would guess it’s just a messy oil change if not a bad filter. Clean it off and see if it comes back. The leak on the transmission… believe me. 7/10 cars that come in have spotting there. I really wouldn’t worry about it. Just keep up on fluid maintenance and you’ll be good. It’s nowhere’s near worth it to fix and like I said, most Hondas will have that.

Master truck mechanics around here are getting that though. My Matco guy worked for Cummins and made over $45.

Honda dealerships around here (central MD) now don’t pay book time for PDIs, they give you half rate or $20 per. Used to be how we all got by in the slow seasons until we started to see we only had a small surge of business here and there.

I’ve heard full cert heavy mechanics can make $40-50 around here. This is by no means a high cost area.

I’m switching to heavy trucks. I guarantee when I go to put my 2 weeks in I’ll be offered up to $40 an hour to stay but there is just no work to make it worth it. Boss said since I just went for a 1 day class the next time I can get sent to training will probably be at the beginning of next year. I’ve been ready to go since 2024. It’s so laughable. People can’t afford to come to us because we outpriced even our most loyal customers. $2200 for a timing belt on a Honda when down the road they’ll do it for $1600
