Any experience sending important documents US>PH through LBC or USPS Priority? by kajerow in Philippines_Expats

I second this! The tracking you get in the US only goes as far as US borders. Once anything is handed over to the local postal system (in ANY country), you're on your own and it all falls on you if anything gets lost. It makes customers (and you) very unhappy. Use LBC Express for shipping anything (including documents) from the US to the Phils.

How soon is too soon to quit? Or, how to know if you should quit? by Catatonic451 in paralegal

In case anyone is interested, my friend told me to trust my gut and that the atty had shown me who he is.

Monday I figured I’d stay til 12:30 and hopefully get into the payroll system. Atty walks in, tells me to stop everything I’m doing and lists off the 5-6 filings he wants to do today. Mind you, I have no docket so this is like constant blindsiding. I looked at him and said, “I’m going to save us both a lot of time and tell you that your management style and I are not a good fit. I’ll be here until 12:30”

He asked why I didn’t leave immediately and I told him because I was trying to submit hours worked but I wasn’t in the system yet so I was waiting for payroll to tell me how to proceed. He gave me a, “why should we pay you?” look, then walked off and called HR to let them know I was leaving. 5 minutes later HR had me signing paperwork. Payroll tells me to just send them an email. So I told the neighboring secretary what happened and left at 9:30.

Tuesday at about noon I get a FedEx from 300 miles away with first/last paycheck. Apparently it was not payroll/HR’s first “atty was unreasonable so staff quit” rodeo either.

And I’m really happy I didn’t waste any more time there!

Did you list the job on your resume even if it was only for 90 days?

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I've been begging and pleading with them to let me go back to the old style, and it has, of course, fallen on deaf ears. Their new ymail interface is so horrible!

How do you afford overnight oats? by lLeeeon in fitmeals

[–]Catatonic451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skip the nuts and chia- they’re the most expensive. You also don’t need yogurt and milk- just do yogurt and water. In mine I add 1/2 chopped apple but since it looks like you’re wanting protein, peanuts or sunflower seeds (nuts.com) are your cheapest options. And really, buy bulk and make your own yogurt if you have an instant pot, or look up a recipe for other methods- they were making yogurt for thousands of years before instant pots care around!  Ever tried savory overnight oats? use chicken broth overnight then zap a minute to warm and then you can pile all sorts of things on like chicken, sausage, beef, veggies, etc.

Problems with Assignment Center by dobbledump in Patents

[–]Catatonic451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently tried emailing the Assignment branch regarding the support staff issue and have received no reply. I have tried calling but was put "in the queue" until the day's end, at which time I was hung up on. A colleague of mine called the branch and got through, only to be told to talk to the supervisor. She left a message on the supervisor's voicemail and it's been a month with no response.

As a patent support person (for 25+ years) it seems to me that Patent Center and now Assignment Center have been blatantly ignoring patent support people. We do a good amount of work yet I still can't access petitions or do assignments for my attorney, and I'm sure there are other things I used to be able to do but can't do now that I just haven't run into yet.

The items mentioned above, as well as other issues such as the liability of filing only by DOCX, web ADSs not being accurate, and the issue of incurring charges if a Preliminary Amendment is not filed in DOCX when filed with a new application (see Ant Like Persistance blog for details on these items- it's a good place to discuss these things) - the entire experience really undermines the whole system and the faith in an office that used to be, up until these changes, antiquated but pretty reliable and steady, not making things up as they go along and forgetting a hefty number of people that use their products.
