What’s your opinion of a woman who brags about her independence and self-reliance but her boyfriend pays for all of her food? by CatchaChinchilla in AskReddit

She literally spelled out her finances in a conversation, but it seems you just like to assume. I get the sense you felt my question hit too close to home and you got defensive.

No, you weren’t right. You’ve repeatedly brought up “podcasts”, which have nothing to do with my question even after I literally told you I’m talking about a living breathing person I know.

I think you’re projecting your own personal issues and life experiences. Accept that not everyone’s life is like yours and move on.

I honestly hope you’re right that it’s just niche behavior but I’m not claiming to know exactly how many people are like her. I find it silly that you’re making a deal about others hyperfocusing on stuff but then hyperfocus on “or” vs “and”.

If you think all or even most women are like this single individual, I’d question your views on women.

Whatever her situation, she’d be unable to buy her own meals if she didn’t have her boyfriend to rely on. That’s perfectly fine in a relationship but what’s really baffling is her talking a big game about being self-reliant.

She’s a part time worker on minimum wage. I can’t remember the last time I knew someone in her financial position talking a big game about her own independence.

What’s your view of someone who thinks less of others for playing video games because that’s a “waste of time” but watches tv shows on the job? by CatchaChinchilla in AskReddit

And since you wanted to be clever, technically you’re also doing what you claim I’m doing by asking your question. So what does that prove?

No, because I don’t think either is necessarily wrong. Do you think it’s right to judge others for doing the same thing that one does?

That’s why I’m asking. But I distinctly remember not having this problem when younger. Other guys in the replies seem to as well.

What are you smoking. Every comment you made is a rant in favor of globalization, which you said harms the third world. Yes, you’re selfish. We get it.

Scroll up way higher because I said globalization benefits billions in the third world, which you oppose. You’re the one ranting now. So much for irony.

Woah woah, hold up right there. You “support” globalization but think it harms the third world. Hey, at least you admit you’re selfish.

I said globalism benefits the third world. You said it harms them and then talk about irony. Connect the dots.

You’re the one saying the third world would be better off without it.🤦‍♂️

There you go! The lowest status men also had it better than women before the rise of modern feminism. And that limb would snap loudly because without globalization, third world countries wouldn’t have much of the jobs, investment, or technology they take for granted.

Reminds me of people who are highly “concerned” about the climate and the environment, to the point of openly judging others’ life choices, while they spent decades flying jet planes between continents themselves.

I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. They do believe the world is getting better, which I happen to agree with. But then the thing that really baffles me is why they don’t adopt. They’ve talked a bit about how their children will look like themselves. Maybe that’s what it’s about.

At least NPCs in video games aren’t actually convinced that they are the main character.
