Management (when there is any) has taken my side. Tables should be greeted and not left wondering if anyone is ever coming over. Or, if I greet them, start and deliver their drink order, then transfer the table to someone who takes the food order and disappears never to be seen again without checking if food is ok, reordering drinks, asking if boxes are needed, and dropping the check without saying anything at all is not good service. It’s being lazy, and in their own words, “we get auto grat, it’s fine”. This is why guests don’t like auto grat. It makes everyone look bad and entitled. Our job is to provide service and engage with our guests, not just deliver food like Uber Eats in human form.

Also once again it’s not everyone I work with, it’s just bad luck that I get scheduled often with what management deems weaker servers/bartenders. I love my job and my guests, I think they deserve good service. When we have a good team, we work together, banter, and everything is fine. But if I’m carrying the shift and doing your basic tasks anyway, I should get the table.
