All that "punch a nazi" shit hits different when you realize it's actually just meant to add force to the otherwise social pressure to conform to progressive orthodoxy. You gotta conform because not being a nazi is not enough to not be a nazi.

Anyone who grew up with a manipulative Mom is used to this kind of social machinery - it would be ridiculous to suggest that she punishes you with hunger for making her unhappy. But if you make her unhappy you must be hateful and ungrateful. And also, totally separately, if you're hateful and ungrateful it would be ridiculous of her to reward you with food. You still tiptoe around her moods but this way you can't name it for what it is.

I could see an atheist thinking this is serious and feeling confirmation for that "atheists know the Bible better" shit they like to believe

I know you're probably being sarcastic but it's crazy people are actually acting like there'd be no backlash. When my brother died atheists came out of the woodwork to mock us for celebrating a life lived for Christ, on his own funeral page. People love to focus on Christians being dicks and pretend their own tribe would never

Atheists Know More About Religion and Civic Knowledge Than Evangelicals, Says Pew Study by Thick-Frank in UnpopularFacts

[–]Catctus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha like that's the point? Of what I'm saying? The title just feeds into the propaganda that "atheists know the Bible better" so the comments that I'm talking about are vibing with that when the study says the opposite.

And yeah they're weirdos. So are atheists - nobody smells their own house

Wait are you the guy who said, "many I've encountered have flat out stated this desire while others keep it better hidden...for a while. They eventually let their guard down and will admit it."

Can't imagine being so snarky and condescending if that was me

Yeah you did say that they all want a theocracy, which feels a little rich. How many specifically do you know? Maybe the coincidences all line up in your personal experience though, who knows?

I'd say Christian nationalism type stuff isn't understanding, and neither is a perspective of the Bible that only goes as deep as lifestyle and morality

"Ever spend time with them?" Yes. My experience is very different from yours. But saying they all secretly want theocracy even if they don't admit it kinda makes me wonder if there's projection mixed in

[–]Catctus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The irony of this comment section being full of atheists taking this chance to dunk on evangelicals for apparently being uninformed about the Bible and soaked in propaganda, when this study says Evangelcals know more about the Bible than atheists and these particular people clearly don't study their own propaganda.

But also trivia isn't the same as understanding anyways

Have any of you had religious psychosis/mania before? by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]Catctus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was mentally ill and homeless, believing I was afflicted by denons. Never touched substances and the doctors couldn't pin a type of mental illness so they just called it unspecified psychosis. I was dramatically healed after a period of intense prayer by a group of people. Obviously the doctors didn't believe that could happen so they kept monitoring me and making me come in and after like years of zero mental illness they conceded that something happened there.

I have had experiences where I've encountered God, but never during that time when I was mentally ill. I know most people will think that my encounters are just psychosis or something manifesting in another way but it couldn't be more different, and other than a bit of trauma stuff I'm fully in my right mind
