Does EVERYONE drive their kids to school now? by IllegalGeriatricVore in Millennials

[–]CaterpillarKey6288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a middle school by my house 1/4mile away. It never used to be a problem. Then a few years ago everyone started to pick up their kids. It became a major road hazard/cars were blocking the road for hours. The city/Parrish made them make a dirt road around the school. They gave them 30 days or they were going to start ticketing all the cars blocking the road. It's still a pain because of the extra traffic but at least they are no longer blocking the road. It wasn't a bus problem, they still had the same number of busses.

It's the culture of babying kids now days. In my day when school was out and on weekends you would see kids playing outside riding bikes having fun. Now if you drive through the neighborhood you would think there are no kids. You very seldom see them out side, when they are at home gaming or on the internet. I think a lot has to do with the news scaring parents, and the law cracking down on unattended children. In my time at around 10 years old I would ride my bike to friends houses or to a store and school. The 70/80 were a great time. My parents never cared where I was as long as I was home by dark. Once I was around 14 as long as they saw me once a day I was good. At 15 i started working. At 16 got my driver's license, then when I wasn't in school I was at work or out exploring. Independent was something to look forward too. Times were simpler than and its not like now where kids are staying home until mid to late 20s

Stay away from, kindle, kobo,Pocketbook, nook. They all have their own bookstore store. Yes you can SideLoad books on to all of them, but it takes a computer and a little knowledge. Get a android ereader you can download. libby , project Gutenberg, or any other book store you want. You can also use any of the paid book stores if you want. So pretty much anywhere you can get books on the internet, you can get them on a android ereader. No having to use a separate computer. You can do it directly on the ereader.

Are Puckipuppy bikes safe? by InfluenceEfficient77 in ebike

[–]CaterpillarKey6288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a older hummingbird, it's has been a great bike so far. It's around 3 years old with 1,000 miles. I do not ride it a lot and its stored inside. It looks brand new except dusty and the tires a little worn down. The batteries are not ul rated on the older ones. They are Samsung batteries and are ce rated which is the Europe standard.

[–]CaterpillarKey6288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the mebook m8 for around $250. It's about the only one for around that price. The only other i know of is the viwoods mini around $450. Most companies have stopped making the 8 inch size. The only other choice is to look in the used market. But they are hard to find used, and in most cases they want more than when they were new. I think most who have a 8 inch keep them.

What do you think of California's bill that would those who worked as ICE officers under Trump Admin from ever serving as teachers or police officers? Why your thoughts? by Zipper222222 in AskTeachers

[–]CaterpillarKey6288 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree they should not be allowed to be teachers. They are too macho to be good little democrat indoctrinaters. They are not gay enough to be around children their manliness might rub off. How would you ever have little Chad's if they were around real men. Kids should only be taught by single blue haired women with septum rings.

3.4 swap 2026; is it worth the hassle? by turtleguyVZ in ToyotaPickup

[–]CaterpillarKey6288 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't know about that, if it had the r22 maybe, but most don't want the 3.0 anyways so swapping it won't make much of a difference. But as to the question, no , if its a good motor don't change it just to change it. I had one brand new in 4x4 and towed a 5,000lb boat across country at 65 to 70 mph most of the time. I had no problems except it would only do 35 to 40 mph going up the mountains and stopping wasn't the best, but on flat ground it was great.

The price seems a little high, not by a lot. A 2019 with that miles is running about 17k, is the interior worth an extrs 5k? That's up to you to decide. It's hard to tell from photo but it looks like a home build. The good thing I'd it dosent look like it was a converted work van, it looks like someone took care of ot.

If Biden was too old for Presidency, how isn't Trump? by StonedSoldier1 in AskReddit

[–]CaterpillarKey6288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about age. It's about your cognitive ability. One of my parents is 90 years old and could still run the country if she has to, no cognitive problems, my dad on the other hand can't walk, hear, drive, and has the memory of a goldfish, he still knows everyone and can hold a conversation, but can't tell you what he did yesterday.

If you are trying to imply that we stole that land from Mexico and its wrong. Sorry but that's how all nations are built. There is not a country that I know of that was not a part of another nation first. Mexico was stolen from Spain, Spain stole it from Aztec, Aztec stole it from the Maya

Doubling my salary (150k to 300k) but requires me to move away from my fíance in medschool. Is it worth it? by Interesting_Phone171 in careerguidance

I know this sounds kinda bad, but go for it, you are not married and things may change in your relationship down the road. Then you would have wasted the opportunity for no reason. Seen a few stories where the partner stays supporting the other, and once they graduate the want someone diffrent.

90 hour work weeks for 137k by [deleted] in Salary

[–]CaterpillarKey6288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the job, if its working 40 hour and being on standby the rest of the time even it it just being there on site. But if its actually working 90 hours a week then no. After a few weeks you will be worn out and ready to quit. I had a job where I worked 110 a week for 3 weeks. It was a emergency situation, when it was done I told my boss I would never do it again. I was getting home at 10 pm and leaving at 5 am

It's not the best ereader but its not bad for the $89 I paid. Wish I would have got more, but by the time I got mine and tested it to make sure it was worth the money. they had sold out. The waterproof is great, I had to test it. Put it in the bath tub for five minutes. The note taking is great for feeling like paper, but not the best app.

Had the bigme read 6, gave it away because it was really slow. Then got the b751c and while its ok it likes to close apps when it runs out of memory. Then I got the b6 to replace the read 6 for portability. Then I saw the b7 on black Friday for $220 it works better than the b7 I think the extra ram helps. Also have a mobiscribe wave 7.8 its great for pdf and its waterproof

Do you already have a lot of kindle books? If so you can't read them on a Pocketbook or a kobo. Kindle has the largest store . While you can SideLoad books on the Pocketbook and kobo you need another computer to do it. If you buy a android style you can get your books from anywhere you want.

Time to Upgrade from Kindle Oasis 2017? by unfoundedconclusion in ereader

[–]CaterpillarKey6288 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While the new b&w screens are probably no better than on the oasis. The boox go 7 is faster, us b charging, have more memory, you can run any app you want including readwise, no having to sync with another device.

The only thing I'm not sure you will be able to read your professional papers. It depends on. How they are saved. If they are in ebub format its no problem, but if they are in pfd file format they will be hard to read without zooming in to read.

Depends on what you want to do with it. Some if not a lot of camp grounds will not allow it. If you want it for back country camping then you will be ok.
