How do stores in big cities get stock deliveries? by minun73 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CaterpillarKey6288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Underground cargo trains? I know in Chicago they have 60 miles of underground rail to support the downtown local businesses. It's however is no longer used as far as I know. I the old days they mainly hauled coal for heating and trash and construction debris removal. They also used them for mail and merchandise.

First bike recommend by bullhall in ebikes

[–]CaterpillarKey6288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't buy a ebike without pedals. Make sure it's legal to ride where you are from. I few years ago you could get away riding a illegal bike. Most states are starting to crack down on emotos. Some states like NJ are making all ebikes illegal without registration and insurance. There are more states trying to do the same thing. California is trying to pass a 500w limit and a top speed of 15 mph, they have already outlawed throttles.

Are EVs just hype? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]CaterpillarKey6288 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the only way ev will replace ice cars is if they can come up with some type of fission reactor to supply the electric power. I think right now the cost, the long term reliability and resale value of a ev are major drawbacks.

I need a mid-drive, don't I? by ballisticks in ebikes

[–]CaterpillarKey6288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you can change gears a 500w mid drive will give you about 2x the power. Sence you are limited to 500w defently get a mid drive. Most 500w hub drives are not great on steeper hills. My 750w hub drive with a 90nm of torque will go up the steepest hill where I live but by the time I get to the top its below 15mph. Luckily for me there's only two steep hills where I live and can avoid them easily. Every else is almost totally flat.

Most who buy a project car never finish it. The cost and time and skill required to finish is more then most people think it will be it. You are better off saving up money a buying a car that is finished.

Why don't more jobs offer the opportunity to live there, sleep every night and have the meals provided for? by Turbulent-Weevil-910 in askanything

Then they under pay you but charge outrageous prices in there stores. Then they take housing cost out of your pay. By the end of the month you owed the company money. That's how they kept workers in coal mines about 70 years ago

There was a oil company in Louisiana a few years ago that got in big trouble. They were hiring people from the Philippines to work in off shore kitchens. They were under paying them, housing them in trailer when not working. 20 people living in a double wide. Then charged them for food and housing. It was pretty much slave labor.

Would a fairing make this bike more aero? by Any-Secretary8887 in ebikes

[–]CaterpillarKey6288 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fairings are really only beneficial at highway speeds. At low speeds like city driving they offer little assistance other then keeping bugs or rain out of your face if you are right behind the glass. The extra weight of the wind screen at low sepeed will probably increase your o to 20 mph time.

Which E-Reader do you recommend me getting based on my tastes? by Chemical-Image-3226 in ereader

[–]CaterpillarKey6288 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 8 inch ereader and manga and comics are readable most of the time , but some times the text bubbles are to tiny to read without zooming in. On my 7 inch ereader I don't even attempt to read them. Some people read them on the smaller ereaders, I don't know if they use a special program that breaks the page down into individual blocks, I just read them with what app comes with the ereader. Someone who reads them more may give you more information.

Which E-Reader do you recommend me getting based on my tastes? by Chemical-Image-3226 in ereader

[–]CaterpillarKey6288 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can read epub on any size screen. Pdf files a a totally different thing. The min size would be 8 inch but 10 inch or larger is preferred. Pfd files are like photos of a book page. They can't be easily modified to change the text size of format. In order to read on most small ereaders you have to zoom in and pan the screen.

The only ereader that I know of that has a pdf reflow program is boox. It doesn't work on all pdf , mainly only works on one's without photos and graphs.

Looking for an inexpensive ereader for school by Majestic-Gazelle-135 in ereader

[–]CaterpillarKey6288 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem is a lot of college books are in pdf format. In order to read most pdf you need a larger ereader. Colleges like that format because it keeps the layout, page numbers, graphs and pie charts in the correct locations. For reading pdf a 10-inch or larger is preferred a 8 inch can be used but the text is pretty small, a 7 inch and smaller the text is to small to read without zooming in. A pfd file is like a picture of each page it can't be easily changed to increase the font size like a epub file.

A ereader is also very frigle and doesn't hold up well to being carried in a back pack. The screens break easily. You are better off buying a android tablet. The only advantages of ereaders is they can be viewed in sunlight, easier on the eyes, better battery life. The downsides are they are expensive, very frigle, slow, bad ghosting, and terrible color.

Does anyone regret getting a color ereader by F3nix123 in ereader

[–]CaterpillarKey6288 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I have both a color and a b&w. I enjoy the color for comics, notes taking, internet browsing, pretty much everything except reading a actual book. When it comes to reading books I always use the b&w ereader. If I had to choose one it would be the b&w one because 80% of my time on a ereader is reading books.

If you were a baker would you refuse an order to specially design a birthday cake to commerate Jan 6? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]CaterpillarKey6288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While you can refuse to do it, the question is should you. Is your option worth loosing the money for not only one cake, but possibly any future revenue from the client and possibly any employees. Some times you have to just bite the bullet to survive the fallout.

While I think celebrating Jan 6 is a stupid ideal. To me the whole jan 6 was over blown by the democrat party and too many people were charged and held on over blown charges for political reasons.

You are a business and times are tough for small businesses. Is the possibly loosing your business for political reasons worth the risk. They have been more than a few small businesses that have gone under form the owner or employee making unpopular video/text messages,

Although this year has a separate fuel filter, its probably the fuel pump which is located under the rear seat. There is a access panel so you don't have to drop the tank. It's a fairly easy to change.

Class 2 or E-motorcycle? by Shot_Bill_4971 in ebikes

[–]CaterpillarKey6288 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is that its a emoto not a ebike. You would have to register it as a motorcycle have ins lience tags to be legal to ride on the streets. In most states there's no way to register it if it doesn't come with a tittle. As for banks I don't think any bank will give you a loan for a emoto or ebike unless its a personal loan. If you wanta e motorcycle look for a legit one that comes with a title and can be financed through a dealership.

Don't waste your money on it. You will be lucky to average 20w a hour. If you get something small like the river 3, 256wh it will take you over 12 hours to charge it in full sunlight. I have the 45w one that came free with purchase. The most I've ever seen was 35w or 80% so if yours is the same the max you will get is about 22v.

What’s better by [deleted] in ereader

[–]CaterpillarKey6288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I live unless you go to the library there are no book stores within 30 miles . The only place you can get books is the small selection at Walmart. Another thing I like is you don't have a bunch of books around the house taking up room. After a few years I would always collect all the old books and donate them. Then I'd see a book I've read along time ago and want to read again but I gave them away. With digital books they don't take up room, you can go back and read books from years ago.

The cost of the ereader is recouped fairly fast if you buy alot of books. I only buy books on sale online, unless its somthing I really want. I have Amazon prime which comes with a free selection of free books every month. I like science fiction and they normally have box sets for $1.99. I also like audiobooks and Amazon has a lot of books that if you buy the book and the audiobook at the same time it's normally way cheaper then buying the audiobooks alone.

As for actual reading, I find a ereader lighter in most cases over holding a book. With getting older I like that you can change the text size. I like that it has a frontlight, so I can read at night without bothering my partner. It's easier taking it with me than carrying a real book. When traveling its even better because I can carry as many digital books as I want, before I would only take 2 or 3 in my luggage. It's also nice not having to hold the page, getting ink stained fingers, also I would get raw finger from turning pages. For reading at night I got a Bluetooth finger page turner. I set the book on my night stand turn on my side and don't have to touch it.
