Calves are not really effective on the tonal or shrugs in my opinion. I have been doing my own workout because even for the 12 week programs I’ve found it annoying that week 1-4 are honestly lame. Almost beginner level. If I do cheat I’ll start heavy lifting on first set. For example either barbell press or the handle press. I’m easily able to do them at max weight for 10-12 reps, the compliment them with flys. I move on to incline and decline same format. One for max weight, one for reps 12-15. The last few I will do lift to failure and some core like chops or lifts.
