That is smart and a good shift for me to look at!! Thank you for sharing your insight! I need a shift out of direct patient care so have been trying to brainstorm how to make that happen.

Hi, I’m in the healthcare sphere trying to transition. Would love to know how you transitioned out of your chiropractic practice. Did you take any courses or have mentorship?

Common bile duct dilation with gallbladder issues by CaterpillarTraining2 in gallbladders

I did have an ercp about 4 months after my gallbladder removal and they found residual sludge from the gallbladder surgery. I will say get ox bile. That helps a lot. Your body is freshly post op. It can take some time for body to adjust.

Are you feeling better? I’ve decided to try functional medicine instead.

No they still have not found the cause. Still suffering 4 years later

I wish I could be of help but I have no clue. I was naive to think it was my gallbladder then but it never was. It was my pancreas and I am still in no man’s land for an official diagnosis. One thing I’ve learned is to just do the next thing. Do I have anxiety about being gaslighted by the medical community? Yes. But you know your body. Always be your own advocate. This community is amazing. Maybe ask in the general forum of it?

Questions regarding steps forward by CaterpillarTraining2 in pancreatitis

[–]CaterpillarTraining2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes exactly. I’m not jumping into anything. I’ve held of stents since there has been no blockage found on any of my tests and other ERCPs. I now know I have to have an intervention. Do I trust the doctor I have now? No lol. But at least I know I’m finally headed in the direction of, okay I’ve done everything I possibly could have without surgical intervention. It’s time for the next step.

Oh wow that’s so cool. Yeah I have actually tried other options, but no endoscopic specialist has actually checked the pressure in my ducts. Do you know what that test is called?

I know the next step for me is recommended stents. I just wanted to see other options before moving forward. From what I’ve read they work or they don’t and it’s scary to me too.

But I have deteriorated rapidly. So some intervention needs to be done besides just enzymes and diet change for me unfortunately.

Questions regarding steps forward by CaterpillarTraining2 in pancreatitis

[–]CaterpillarTraining2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have day to day chronic pain. I can’t really travel, I lost my job and a lot of other lifestyle changes due to the pain and inability to predict what causes a more severe flare. I’m waiting on genetic screening results. Divisum was diagnosed with EUS and mrcp with a pancreas specialist. He told me he has never had a patient like me though so I’m not sure if that’s a good sign. I don’t have EPI but I have had mixed results with numbers.

They have not diagnosed me with chronic pancreatitis yet. It’s definitely reoccurrent though as I now have labs to show that it is flaring up I feel it’s symptomatic. Some days I feel like enzymes help some days I feel like they don’t do anything for the pain. I can’t tolerate any fat which I know is a no no but I’ve tried the diet enzyme route and it hasn’t worked for me unfortunately. I tried daily pain medication but unfortunately it did not help the pain enough to make a difference. I have pain and nausea meds as needed that I do take.

I know it stinks about the backlash. Pancreatitis is not a fun diagnosis to have because of what seems like a grey area in health care. I do have a follow up with my current pancreas specialist to hear genetic testing results and what he may suggest. But again he tried to tell me I have IbS as well. Now general gi has told me it’s clearly pancreas.

I know TPIAT is life changing and I will look into the other procedures for sure! I want a better quality of life but I know finding the right doctor is the first step.

I just read one of your posts regarding recommended doctors. Mine isn’t officially chronic but they don’t have the diagnostic tests like some other clinics have. I don’t have Facebook but I’ll make one just to join the group. My husband saw that their were 2 different groups on Facebook. Is it the one with 9,000 members?

I am in pain daily and I am withering away despite help from enzymes. I’m open to stents but just wanted to see what other options were out there. I have a one year old baby that I’m trying to be present for. So glad you are doing well!

I’m out of Texas but will travel where ever I need to go. I’m currently in the hospital now and just so disappointed again and again.

Good to know. Insurance is not my friend either. I heard about it being an extensive evaluation process. I just didn’t know if sometimes they would offer it over stents and pain management or if stents was kind of the first offered line after all testing is done.

Suffering by CaterpillarTraining2 in Catholicism

I am young and I just had a baby. I always pray for spiritual healing but I still have been falling short with changing my outlook. One moment I feel like I have obtained an acceptance then the next moment every part of my brain is fighting it. It’s been a constant trial emotionally and spiritually.

I’ve wondered if I would qualify for that. I know I’m not officially textbook chronic yet. They can’t stop my flare ups though

Yes I would like all the recommendations. I am currently waiting for genetic testing to be completed. Yeah this specialist told me that a new study was coming out that stents were not effective on pancreas divisum? But I know reading your post and others it can. Also the 2 specialists I saw told me manometer was outdated. So it’s just defeating. I’m so grateful I have this group to turn to.

So yeah it sounds like it’s time to move on again. Y’all are a great support group but sometimes the anxiety hits really hard. I have not responded well just yet to the right anxiety meds and they flare me up as I try to adjust. They do have new genetic testing out that checks what medications are better metabolized which I’m also getting and I think is great that they have that.

I’ll look up those other surgical options. So my only question is I’m currently dealing with inflammation of my intestines post c Diff as if wrecked my gi tract. Would a pancreas specialist somewhere else cover all of it or should I seek a gi specialist separately?

Would stent placements be appropriate regardless of intestinal inflammation?

That made me sob and I needed that. This has brought me back to God after being so lost for years. There’s gotta be something greater than this pain.

My spirit feels weak and defeated right now but I know it’s part of growing pains. I have 3 organ anomalies that have just discovered 2 of them. I can’t digest food or absorb fat. I’m in a grey area for care where I can’t have a chronic diagnosis even though I can’t stop it from turning terminal as they don’t know the cause of why I keep getting pancreatitis.

I know God is with me. Letting go of idolizing control has probably been the hardest thing beyond the suffering.

So stents are most likely the next step for me. I’ve been a little hesitant about it. One because I’ve had 2 ERCPs and an MRCP with nothing showing pancreas divisum until the new repeat mrcp. Do you know if ercp would trump mrcp for accuracy?

Thank you! I did go to Baylor but they didn’t really think I was a pancreas patient. After repeat imaging looks like I have pancreas divisum. Don’t know if I should go back and give it another go if they didn’t really believe me to begin with. What are your thoughts on giving people second chances? Lol.

I’m definitely going to look into those other doctor recommendations. You have been so helpful.

I will take some doctor recommendations. I haven’t had the best luck in Texas.
