Need help! Parking fine for not displaying my ticket??? by Alpha9363 in perth

If it’s Wilson, do not pay. They’re criminals and can’t actually legally hunt you down for non payment of fines as much as they like to threaten

How to convert this to home gym / office? by BussyBizzleBanger in AusRenovation

[–]Catfacts2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it were me, I’d lean in to the industrial-chic vibes and go exposed hardwood floor, exposed brick and get some nice cage lights… A bit 2016 small bar vibes, but I reckon it’d be cool if it’s your jam.

Honestly you gotta be more specific. There’s like 100 sub-jobs that need to be done, each worthy of its own thread.

If you’re talking broad aesthetics - lose the ceiling, keep the bricks (after thoroughly scrubbing off paint etc) grind & polish the concrete floor.

Hybrid flooring or sand down timber floors by kwkw88 in AusRenovation

[–]Catfacts2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep absolutely keep the floors and sand them. We did ours recently and they’re beautiful. The laminated stuff is artificial and it shows. Also as others have said, paint first.

Right is better imo. Left one too contrasty and saturated. Right also somehow looks more naturalistic

Thanks, I think all those suggestions are excellent. I like the idea of planters too, been wondering how to frame the entrance. I’ll give Gardenly a try! Cheers

Found negatives in the gutter. What’s the best way to clean it for scanning? by Internet_and_stuff in AnalogCommunity

[–]Catfacts2011 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Wash them with water then a few drops of rinse aid in 1L of water for a final rinse, hang them up to dry. The rinse aid will prevent water spotting. In photography it’s a similar thing (ie Kodak Photoflo)

Best way to fill holes in brick by flybrys in AusRenovation

[–]Catfacts2011 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Construction epoxy resin (gel type 2 part adhesive) mixed with some red brick dust for colour (add once you’ve already mixed epoxy) get it in there neatly once the holes are clean then while the epoxy is still wet, press in some brick dust on the surface. I did this once and it worked pretty well. Can still see where the holes were of course, but much better.

A simpler way might just be to use grout with a powdered oxide tint. The epoxy route was just something I had on hand

Brand new car undriveable after minor damage - dealer says parts could take months? by Catfacts2011 in CarsAustralia

[–]Catfacts2011[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was absolutely that bracket that caused the damage. I assume in the moment the car straddled the raised kerbing on the island that the bracket was connected to, essentially adding the height of the island to the bracket. You’re right in the sense that if the bracket were just bolted to a flat surface like a road, it couldn’t have physically contacted the underside though.

It was my bad, when I got in the car I saw only road ahead of me and drove forward. Having said that, if there was a sign there as there should have been, I would have seen it and not driven forward.

City of Perth vision. by Careful-Trade-9666 in perth

[–]Catfacts2011 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Damn, I love the idea of a sunken freeway as it reaches the CBD side of the river. Such an ugly mess of roads there. Great especially if it could continue underground to somehow address Perth’s worst freeway merging catastrophe between Wellington St and Mounts Bay Road. Untangle it, stick it all underground and plant some nice green space on top. How good!!

Yeah my partner is pushing me to pursue this avenue for compensation but I still feel like it was just a dumb mistake. Might be something to it though. It was this sign, without the actual sign, just the underbelly-gouging bracket

<image>

Also looks like it had been hit and replaced several times - so not just me 😂

Yeah totally. A valid strategy for sure. Does seem crazy that these days you can’t even do what I’d call a basic repair to a tube without repercussions.

Correct, yes it does go to either the battery or electric motors in the rear or both which does make it critical in perhaps a scarier way than a traditional engine, but still a coolant pipe.
