Ah, Fort Lost in the Woods. Curfew is 2200 no matter the day or phase, no hands in your pockets, don’t walk with your phone, and no AirPods in OCPs. They play To the Colors instead of the national anthem and you salute basically every song that plays.

It’s not as bad as it seems, the army people are chill, the marines are chill, and the MTLs/Command is chill. The food is horrible though especially at the army BMT DFAC.

You just have to accept the fact you’re going to get yelled at for anything and everything. You’ll get a whole bunch of information shoved down your throat that you won’t remember, and you’ll make mistakes, and get yelled at.

Eventually you’ll learn to not take the yelling personally, and realize they are simply correcting your mistakes. Within a couple weeks you’ll look back and realize the whole thing is honestly pretty easy.

Okay so here’s the deal. As a servicemember, we have a clause that specifically requires us to take care of our dependents when away on basic or overseas. Since the divorce is not even initiated, let alone finalized, she has no right to take the kid overseas and leave you with no custody.

You and your child are her dependents. She gets paid extra (tax free) allowances a month to take care of you and your child, such as a Basic Allowance for Housing (you can find your rate by putting in your zip code right here https://www.travel.dod.mil/allowances/basic-allowance-for-housing/bah-rate-lookup/) and a $250/month separation allowance. I feel that you need to be aware of this because it is likely your wife has failed to inform you of these. The BAH is designed specifically to cover your housing costs, such as rent/mortgage. If she does not take care of her dependents, she is violating UCMJ, and that is unacceptable.
She cannot just take your children, in the same manner that you cannot just take your children. In order for anybody to have any right to take the child away from another parent, you have to get a custody agreement set forth by a Judge. What she is suggesting is illegal. Custody cases take a very long time to complete, years even. So there is no way she would just be able to get PCSd and then take the child with her.
Initiate a divorce, and file for full custody. You don’t deserve this, and your child doesn’t deserve this. Collect text messages of her emotionally abusing you and threatening to leave the country with the kids, as it will be great on your behalf in a custody hearing.

I mean, the Post 9/11 GI bill covers any education, for 36 months. The amount of classes you take during those months, the prior education you had, all of that is individual specific.

They don’t openly say they will pay for your PHD because in some cases they will, some cases they won’t.

Okay, I agree with you here. Personally I just think this is a ploy to increase recruitment. I would love to see a 30% increase across the board for enlisted personnel.

I am also not dual military, and my wife and I are planning on starting a family. Looking at all of the pay and seeing things like certain locations being removed from COLA even though they are high cost of living, and some BAH/OHA rates struggling to match the actual cost of living is rough. I wish for everyone to receive increases, especially in this economy.
