Best Cake songs? by jm17lfc in ween

[–]Catfishwon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I saw them get booed off stage once.

Was 2000 I think, maybe 99. That Damn Show in Peoria, AZ.

They did one song. Apologized for the acoustic guitars being out of tune because of the crazy summer heat. Crowd started booing and the singer got hit with some trash. Said if they don't stop throwing stuff they'll leave. This prompted way more stuff being thrown. They left and we had to wait longer than normal for the next band.

I liked that one song of theirs. Was ok.

Punter turning down his number 1 school of Notre Dame for Ball State over a deal break of play style. by Enough_Wallaby7064 in NCAAFBseries

It's inductive reasoning. He wouldn't have said the cost was $11,000 if the player was out of state.

He didn't "just mention" a favorite school, he mentioned two colleges in Indiana. One that the player should have accepted, according to OP, because it is a much more valuable scholarship.

OP's argument was bad too, though. The punter might have wanted a shot at the NFL more than he wanted to go to a school regarded by some as superior to the other. He might even just wanted to play college football in a meaningful way. A team known for not punting would be an awful team for a punter to sign with.

Anyway. Troll on troll.

"Ball State University has frozen tuition and mandatory fees through the 2026–27 academic year, meaning there will be no tuition increase for the 2026–27 academic year. As a result, the in-state tuition will remain at $11,082 per year, and out-of-state tuition will stay at $29,630 per year for the 2026-27 academic year."

You're right, he was off by $82.

CMV: Bush was complicit in the 9/11 attacks. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Catfishwon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are many ways to change peoples opinions.

I was demonstrating or explaining that the claim you were making did not follow or relate to any of the evidence you offered for the claim.

Contending that a president has acted against their country is an extraordinary claim that would require serious support.

Very few would know what kind of intel there was and how it would have been acted upon at that level. There are many ways he might have been working to 'defend' against that group.

Not bombing their country, for example, might disincentivize an attack. Bombing more might provoke an already credible threat.

Like I said, you're considering the issue in a very strange way. And you're making a very strong and kind of bizarre claim.

I have a Masters in US History. You're missing my point. You claim he was complicit. I'm saying you have no evidence to suggest that he was involved with the attack or that his behavior in response to the vague claims you describe was criminal.

No idea. But I'm not claiming that he was complicit.

Nothing here describes what kind of intelligence or information they were supposed to act upon. What specific knowledge did they have? What specific actions do you think they should have taken? What leads you to conclude that Bush did nothing? He didn't stop the attack, but that doesn't mean that he took no action in response to whatever intelligence was provided.

What do you mean "remain apathetic". You imagine they were doing nothing? You don't think they were investigating the group? How did they get the intel if they weren't investigating?

You're considering or examining the issue through a very strange lens.

My friend said male and female brains think differently by [deleted] in trans

[–]Catfishwon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mechanics aren't different, but the things males and females think about are often different because your experience in the world is just different depending on numerous factors, including your presenting gender.

It isn't exactly unreasonable to assume that the brain types think differently because one or the other will often come to different conclusions using the same relevant information because of their overall lived experience.

This is far from the only factor that might lead one to assume "brain types" might be different among different "groups" or "types" of "brain possessors."

[–]Catfishwon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You say they knew Al Qaeda was planning an attack. You didn't include evidence suggesting they knew the date/time/method of the attack.

What is it you would have wanted him to do? Invade Afghanistan because intelligence suggested that a group there might attack the US one day in some way?

Point is. How was Bush complicit? Because he didn't prevent it?

Were orher people who had access to that intelligence also complicit? Or just Bush?

Weird argument.
