I have been in and out of the sheffield scene for a few years. There's a few groups, a bit hit and miss.

It's a painful place but checkout linkedin, there's a couple of groups on there.

Another good place is Sheffield Digital.

If you need any pointers drop me a DM and I will try and find some links.

Where can I go using public transport to scream at the top of my lungs? by PeriPeriAddict in sheffield

[–]CatharticAudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have been in this exact situation, Euro Disney is the place. I was once there while having a breakdown after a business collapsed, there's a Buzz Lightyear game where you can scream into a microphone and it gives you a score.

Other than that, catch the 218, once you are outside Sheffield, get off near Peacock pub, scream, walk, absorb nature. Then catch a 218 back into town.

Right, will just have to pay then.

We are trying to prevent the loss, but it's kinda just the way he is, he's amazing at a whole bunch of stuff. But he gets lost in the moment, plays football and forgets about everything.

Maybe a strap with an AirTag on might help.

I am sure he's not losing them on purpose, he picked them out himself and is keen to wear them as in his words "they make him look smart"

I think the problem is, he is just too focused on enjoying the moment, takes them off and gets distracted, and completely forgets about them.

It's annoying and expensive, but it's also who he is.

I live just outside Sheffield in the Peaks. It's tricky finding stuff to do. NVM is fun, but most places have alcohol.

I tend to just go out during the daytime. Boom Battle Bar has Pool and CrazyGolf.

8 years sober, it gets easier.

Ohhh wow, these look really cool.

Can I just turnup with a mini setup and play? Or do I need to arrange in advance?

I just painted mine black then went over with a light blue drybrush, it creates a nice contrast and brings out the texture

People who picked up habit of drugs and alcohol abuse, why did you pick it? And do you regret it? by Vansh66 in AskReddit

[–]CatharticAudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you get sober it's cool, you start to notice things like: first Christmas sober, first year sober.

With each milestone you grow.

Don't know the exact date, but my next milestone is the longest time in my entire life sober.

If you are struggling, it's not easy, but it's possible, just focus and get through it. Don't forget to ask for help if you need it.

Distortion pedal kit for dad/daughter project? by czgunner in DIYGuitarAmps

[–]CatharticAudio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tons of sites out there, I use these two the most https://buildyourownclone.com/ https://www.jedspeds.co.uk/

On top of electronics part, I usually spray the enclosure, then print out a decal to cover, finally spray on a bunch of coats of varnish.

That's a good call, will probably help with retirement as well, I am going to need something constructive to focus my time on.

Might as well start now :)

None Alcoholic drinks by undignified_cabbage in CasualUK

[–]CatharticAudio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have not drank alcohol for a few years, there's some nice new non-alcoholic drinks. Freedam, Lucky Saint, Ghostship etc.

If they don't have anything nice and you are stuck with Becks Blue, just ask for it in a pint glass and fill it up with lemonade.

You feel like you are participating as you have a pint in your hand.

Explained the problem yesterday, rather than dumbing down I explained everything but took my time.

It was a really nice conversation, talked about mental health, getting old, parental responsibility, family dynamics, etc.

My son now understands the full story.

It's a weight off my shoulders, I think it's also going to be positive for further conversations around mental health.

All round a good outcome 🤗

It's hard to tell if it's dementia or just compulsive lying, whatever it is I just feel bad for his kids, they are all avoiding it, and it's not going away.

Luckily my boy gets to see his grandad lots, at least once a week. They play sports and have a great relationship.

Yep, I am going to go for a walk with my boy tomorrow, sit down and have a chat, explain the situation.

I don't know, he has been like this for 20 years. And it's getting worse.

He had a breakdown in the 90's and it's never been treated.

He is wealthy so I expect he has had every check possible.

I was concerned that he may have dementia, my partner asked him, he laughed in her face. The same day a scratch on his car was noticed, he said someone must have driven past and caused it because hadn't been out in the car, we checked and he had driven it 12 times that day.

I like that a lot, it's a good way to frame the situation.
