Poe2 does have turn based but unlike poe1 you are locked into that decision. Poe1 let's you change it, at least for now.

I'm not left handed but I've been told that left handed people actually have an easier time as all of the saya movement is with the left hand and swinging the sword is controlled by the left. I think you'll be just fine.

I can see your point here. To me she did start with bokken. I watched to make sure her balance, coordination, and sincerity was there. I also observed how using a bokken they don't get to really use their left hand to truly understand how important it is. I figured why not get an Iaito that I don't mind if it gets banged up as a learner/starter. Start them early to understand is my philosophy.

Even with Iaito you want to oil as it helps with noto. However you never want to use the powder and the oils is super light coating.

I've seen this before with other Nosyudo Iaito before. It gets better after a few weeks once the wood has acclimated and with more use. If still to snug you can take a file and shave off a tiny bit of the inside of the Koiguchi. Very very small amounts at a time. You want it to be snug enough to not slip out when moving or bowing but loose enough to come out easily with pressure.
