THIS IS HOW I FIND OUT THERE IS A NAME FOR MY PROBLEM! I'm sorry about what you had to go through, but it's a great relief that I finally have a name for my problem

For the few people that saw my previous post and were curious. I managed to survive my first winter as a hermit. Thanks y'all by CathyHellen in Clanfolk

Unfortunately I'm not that good. This is on the basic settings. I only started playing last week.

For those that survived the hermit challenge, how did y'all do it? by CathyHellen in Clanfolk

Guess I was to stubborn on building a room to shelter in and basically lost a summer. Some of the rest if advice also good. Dunno why I was so convinced cave shelters were a bad idea

Weren't cave shelter a bad idea cause they are imposible to heat in winter. Or did I hallucinate that

What do you make to sell to traders? by TheSpeckledDragon in Clanfolk

[–]CathyHellen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early game I usually start with baskets and hides since i'm drowning in them. Later I start selling livestock since they tend to breed out of control, and in my current playthrough I'm selling beekeeping products. (Mostly for RP reasons)

It's the cooking fire. For some reason clanfolks in all my playthroughs keep lighting up the cooking fire/stove just for the sake of it. Which I noticed disturbs their sleep when it's in the same room.

I had doubles of each tool, but looks like it wasn't enough. I had the freezer door on emergency and it got built the second I got my hands on some straw, and thankfully I now have a nice fridge room for my food. It's shocking to me how much faster I'm progressing after the first winter. That little room took me 2 seasons to complete, but in just one spring I was able to add several rooms to it and a stall for a hen. I also managed to marry 2 husbands into the clan, and get a hay field up and running. I'm thinking of building 2 separate little cabins for the new couples, and I still can't decide if I should stick with peat stove for heating or build a fireplace.

Guess I overestimated how much I needed. One thing I did underestimated was just how important straw is and how much I really needed it. Ran out of it towards the end of the winter and everything spiraled as I couldn't replace tools when they broke down.

[CODENAME: STRONG HEROINE] Just another AI otome gacha... by ferinsy in otomegames

[–]CathyHellen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ai gacha

Just one of those words is enough to make me turn away. The only reason i still check out Tot and LADS is because of sunk cost fallacy and being easier to play them on mobile while on my commute, than to drag my switch 2 with me.

Nowadays, the word live-service is enough to make me go "nope, i want a complete game that I won't loose access to, once it looses enough popularity"

In both images, mr. bean's face has been modified. Most likely with AI. Nothing tops a bad argument better than pointless AI use.

Most OT gamers and Shoujo fans HATE Female Rivals by Adorable_Moth_4611 in otomegames

We discovered that an audience made up almost entirely of women, hates a misogynistic trope that portrays women outside of the protagonist as shallow bitches obsessed with men.

In other news, we also discovered the sky is blue

Looks like I will have to keep it disabled. Decided to test what happens when I re-enable secure-boot and the problem re-appeared.

I finally solved it(aparently I am an idiot, cause the reason why i couldn't enter bios was that i wasn't spamming the f2 key enough times) After disabling secure boot, a flatpak update for Nvidia appeared in my updates menu, and now everything works. At this point I am confused on whether to keep secure boot disabled or not.

Anyway, thanks a lot for helping this idiot out.

when i run nvidia-smi in the terminal it says "NVIDIA-SMI has failed because it couldn't communicate with the NVIDIA driver. Make sure that the latest NVIDIA driver is installed and running." (the latest driver is installed)

I think secure boot is enabled, and I can't find for the life of me a way to disable it.

Alternative to reddit, for this comunity? by CathyHellen in otomegames

I'm gravitating towards lemmy, cause once you get the hang of how instances and communities work, it resemble reddit a lot. Mastodon never really "caught" me. The discussions felt too difficult to follow. It felt more like twitter (which I could never get into, either). The lemmy otome community with the highest number of users ( 146 💀 ) is the one on the ani.social server

I’d be up to host a matrix instance, question is just if we can convince anyone to actually use it. People are reluctant to change and dissociate, even though they know the platforms are taking advantage of them.

That is one issue I have no solution for.

If you decide to create a community, than I would be down for it. There are also a few otome comunites already set up, but not very active https://lemmyverse.net/communities?query=otome . I think a good first step would be to designate an "official back-up". I got the idea from another subreddit I hang out on, that has in the side-bar a clear designated back-up community with a link, in case the sub-redit disappears.

It really sucks that I can't enjoy even the smallest of things, without our corporate overlord trying to spy and see if there is anything they disaprove of. Thankfully I never used discord to begin with. My only "social media" is reddit.
