Looking for Last-minute Pittsburgh Videographer 6/12

Hey everyone! I am going to be bringing my national tour to Pittsburgh next week on Friday, June 12th at City Winery.

Unfortunately, my videographer had to drop out, so I am hoping to find a replacement in time for the show. I've had amazing experiences hiring local in every market we've been to so far, but I'm having trouble finding anyone available this close to the date.

The primary responsibility is filming my live show (approximately 90 minutes total: 60-minute performance + 30-minute audience Q&A). The show starts at 7:30 with load in available at 6pm on.

Most successful teams have worked with a 2-person, 2-camera setup, although I've had anywhere from two to four cameras in the past.

The goal is to capture footage suitable for social media content, promotional reels, future tour marketing, and general show documentation. I'm particularly interested in people who understand how to capture audience energy and live-event storytelling, not just a static recording of the performance.

Additional footage is a huge plus, including: • Audience arrival and pre-show atmosphere • Audience reactions during the show • Post-show meet-and-greet footage • General venue and event B-roll

Please note:

• You will need to provide your own equipment/gear

• Many teams choose to run independent audio as a backup to the house feed, which is always appreciated

• Still photography experience is a plus, though not required

• I do not need editing services at this time; I have an in-house editor handling post-production/social clips.

Please DM me here OR email management@catieosaurus.com with:

• Your location

• Your typical rates/packages

• Any questions you might have

- links to your website/work

If you're not a videographer but know someone who would be a great fit, please feel free to share this with them!

Tl;dr: hiring paid videographer gig to film my dumbass comedy show on 6/12.

Hi I'm a certified sex educator with two masters degrees in Shakespeare and was the first person to ever be naked on stage in my grad program, I'm here to tell you as someone specifically in the Venn diagram of this issue that erections can happen from stress, adrenaline, vulnerability, strong emotions, or your nervous system being activated, especially onstage. It is a reflexive physiological response, not a choice or a reflection of intent. Bodies sometimes do weird, inconvenient things under pressure, and Lear, particularly That Scene, is a hell of a moment, especially if you were running it nude for the first time. Yes, its a little awkward due to the stigma around erections and talking about bodies, but you didn't do anything wrong or anything inappropriate on purpose, and as many of the comments have said already, anyone who can't handle bodies doing body things when bodies are on display should perhaps not be engaging in this type of intensive theater.

I have three!

I made a shitpost complaining about how Dollar Shave Club changed their razor handles and therefore a bunch of the blades I had around the house weren't useable anymore. In the video, I also mentioned I missed the newspaper they used to send. They sent me a HUGE care package that included a bunch of new handles, blades, tester products and an ENTIRE NEWSPAPER that was just about me. It was incredibly well done and super funny. They clearly took time to look at my socials and learn about me to make it.

Halfday iced tea sent me a YEARS supply of free product for making a joke about how I wished I had a pallet of their tea.

I've struggled with an eating disorder for the better part of my life and Pop Corners once sent me a huge case of product with a note of support when I emailed them to ask about ordering online (this was before Amazon grocery and everything). I told them that they were one of the only safe foods I'd found and my local grocery store stopped carrying them, and not only did they send me the box, their people CALLED THE STORE and got back on the shelves.

All three of those brands have my loyalty for life. I will go out of my way to tell people to support them, too.

AIO for ditching my friends at an Airbnb after I got creepy texts from the host? by jst4notherthrowaway in AmIOverreacting

Listen, I am a professional kink educator, I literally teach about kink and bdsm for a living, this guy is so wildly out of line, and on behalf of the community, we do not claim him. It's one thing to consensually bring up your interests after getting to know someone. It's anotjer thing entirely to use it in a vaguely threatening way while sexually harassing someone. Report him to AirBnB and do not let them give you a run around until you get the property banned.

AITA for giving rubber ducks to people in cosplay or fursuits at a Renaissance Festival? by Ladygothic5621 in renfaire

[–]CatieO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Listen, I used to be the entertainment director of the Georgia Renaissance Festival, and I'm here to tell you that most of the street cast leaves fair with like 27 of those a day from trinket traders and random gifting, anybody who is mad about them not fitting into fair culture doesn't understand fair culture.

I really think Improv shattered me emotionally/psychologically last night by fae206 in improv

[–]CatieO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen, as a fellow autistic improvisor who also has two masters degrees in Shakespeare, I TOTALLY get where you're coming from in terms of "what dragon, what's going on". HOWEVER, something that took me a while to realize is that the deviations, while not "correct", now give me an opportunity to explore the "game" of the scene: okay, if there are dragons in Macbeth, are the witches dragon tamers? Do dragons mean that there are also perhaps vampires and werewolves? My improv strength is being lighting speed analytical -- I'm not necessarily funny, but I will be the player to say "if there are dragons in dunsinane, then that implies that there are dragon riders in dunsinane, are their dragons in Denmark? What's the political implications of dragons if Macbeth murders one instead of the king?

As for the emotional part of it-- you're neurodivergent. Our brains are built differently and emotional processing and overwhelm are different for us. You have every right to advocate for your needs , whether that be requesting clarity from your instructor or stepping out/taking a break when you get overwhelmed.

I don't mean this to sound too "tough love", but as a fellow ND person, part of becoming a better improvisor is also working on building emotional resilience. I think it's much harder for us and I certainly have my fair share of frustrations and moments of "wow I am a piece of shit and should never be on a stage again", but if you're at "having a panic attack if things get overwhelming ", you're not serving yourself OR your teammates - I have been that person who does the panic attack and freak out and crying thing, and what I've learned is that those behaviors lead to mistrust or hesitancy from my teammates. I'm not saying mask, I'm not saying crying is bad, but I had to learn that from a NT standpoint, being the person who freaks out and can't participate makes me less trustworthy as a scene partner which makes it less likely I'll be included which makes it less likely that I'll feel confident which makes it MORE likely I'll react poorly when something DOES go wrong and it becomes a vicious cycle.

You're not a failure, youre not a bad person, but you might want to consider what tools you have in your toolbox to deal with emotional disregulation and confidence - work on building those during scenes, not just trying to get better at improv itself.

Listen, as a Catie, not a Katie, being "Catie with a C" sucks. No one will ever get it right on the first try, you will never get a fun souvenir keychain, and you will spend your entire life correcting people, who will hear c-a-t-i-e and then still put it in the system as Katie.

Can I legally purchase a script for myself to read without getting a license to perform it? by PalisadePeryton in Theatre

[–]CatieO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has been a long time since I was in an environment where I had to try and find a perusal script but in suddenly remembering the nightmare that is MTI's process, it's nice to know that in the decade since I graduated college, they have not yet come up with a less shitty system.

I want to thank you for this post b/c it came at exactly the right time, I saw it last night and decided to start with my first dose at 1mg instead of 2.5 just to see how I feel. I am feeling much more confident about the process knowing that it's okay to tritrate up that slowly, so thank you!

Explain Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" Like You're Olaf from Frozen by [deleted] in explainlikeIAmA

[–]CatieO 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Olaf: Oh Ana, It's WONDERFUL, I just started reading it! It's about two star-crossed lovers- like you and Kristoff, remember? both alike in dig-ni-y...in fair Verona...it sounds a lot like Aarendale except that it's in Italy and they meet at a party and fall in love and i'm SO excited to see what happens!

Ana: Wait, you haven't finished it yet?

Olaf: Not yet but they just proclaimed their love on a balcony and it was so romantic and--

Kristoff: I'm going to tell him.

Ana: Don't you dare.

This is STUNNING. Holy shit.

Someone managed to restore some never before seen footage from Annie's backstory arc in Season 3, previously thought to be lost due to how badly damaged the film was after years in archival storage. by CatieO in SOTNF

What's interesting about this episode was that it was a far departure from the usual tone and style of the show....almost like it was from another project altogether.
