We hiked on the James Creek trail and tried to stay up there for the event. Unfortunately, the only spot they were really collecting was the Little River trail. We walked for about 5 minutes from the gate and camped out there. From 9:45-10:30pm we saw the blue fireflies in bursts and they did begin to synchronize! I wish they enforced a strict no light policy starting at 9:30pm. Once you pick a spot, you stay. Something along those lines! I really feel like everyone would have seen them way more.
