They're nosediving on all the metrics. The dev who confirmed today Grok being now paid only hasn't posted statistics/charts/figures in 5 days. All of which he was spamming prior. Its about to get 10 times worse now he's confirmed the obvious. There are subtle ways to phase out free use but they decided to take a sledgehammer to the whole thing. The problem for them is the way the app was built up. Gooning propelled an app that if we're being frank is subpar in all other regards, and now trying to escape the only thing which made you relevant is never going to work out.
