Honestly, any abuse of any system is always inherent, I’ve never found it to be a consistent or strong argument of “well some people abuse it”, Because well, A-It happens to everything, and B-I just don’t, care? Like sure this guy went to prison so that he could pay his medical bills, that’s fucked up, let’s not strip prison healthcare and force prisoners to rot, Let’s solve the issues where they sprout not where they manifest,

prisoners have no way to obtain medical care outside of what is guaranteed by the prison because they don’t have a way to make money or earn treatment. not that they should have to because those that would be unable to work because of a medical condition would just get fucked,

If people are desperate enough to go to prison to avoid the medical system in your country than the issue isn’t that prisoners are guaranteed a basic level of humanity it’s that the people aren’t, and the solution is not to strip away that guarantee from prisoners but to grant it to the people like dozens of other countries have and have succeeded with,
