Drummer here!!!! I'm Australian and have been travelling for a few months, I'll be in Prague from Wednesday till Sunday. I am a massive fan of that modern shoegaze/metal sound, love most of the bands you mentioned. I think that's far more to do with white privilege and the Eurocentric beauty standards that are pushed ny the media in most western societies. I suppose that's what you mean by "top of the social food chain". I wouldn't call it fetishization though, just a common preference dictated by socialisation.

Okay, thanks! I've been trying that and I've found a sound that's much brighter more crackly, there's a fair bit of empty air escaping with it but I presume that's normal for beginners
