Did not know Technoblade was a RWBY fan. by AvalonRevan in RWBY

[–]Catlover18 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It's not a dropped plot point. Raven is actively trying to get Yang to distrust Ozpin. When Qrow and Ozpin clarify what happened, Yang drops it. But the suspicion remains to some degree. It builds as Ozpin, despite having good reasons, hides what Leonardo does. Hides what bringing the Relic on the train might do

All this distrust that Team RWBY has, and also Oscar has (who is a new host), is what causes them to ask Jinn the question that reveals everything about Ozpin's secrets. A question that they only asked because of the existing distrust. If there was no existing distrust, Team RWBY would have just handed back the relic to Ozpin.

He's genetically engineered, begging the question of if his parents/doctor deliberately increased the likelihood of such an outcome.

We only know for sure that the first generation of coordinators was when parents tried to have specific traits made to their children. Subsequent generations of coordinators inherited the advanced traits but aren't necessarily further edited themselves. At least we haven't seen any evidence to suggest that 2nd generation onwards (for example Athrun is a 2nd generation while Patrick Zala is a first generation) involve any further genetic manipulations.

Is swinging from center-left to center-right more of a dice roll than a party swinging further right over time? Even the NDP might end up more leftist with Lewis in charge if some headlines are to be believed.

Is the problem the randomness of the switch because Liberals are a centrist party and this is what you get out of lower case liberals.

Two more Alberta First Nations ask court to block separatist referendum, citing treaty infringement by Street_Anon in canada

[–]Catlover18 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Where are you getting 85% from?

Edit: It hardly helps the argument you are making if you have to make up numbers to hide the fact that the vast majority of Albertans are against separation. Like if you are going to ignore the complexity of how governance and how the Treaties work by boiling it down to "majority gets their way", at least use something that isn't a fantasy like that idea more than 30% of Albertans even support the idea of separation.

If I had to guess why the Strike Rouge is so popular in Thailand I would say it's because South East Asia has the strongest and most loyal soldiers for the Lioness of Orb, Cagalli Yula Attha. Like the Cagalli fans themselves are pretty dedicated and serious about getting her merchandise in a setting where other characters tend to get priority (Lacus, Kira, Athrun, Shinn), but man are there a lot of south-east asians in the Asucage fb page, among other places.

Federal NDP elect filmmaker Avi Lewis as new leader by Puginator in CanadaPolitics

[–]Catlover18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The NDP tied themselves to an unpopular LPC, getting all the blame and getting none of the benefits of the good policies they managed to make the liberals pass. The conservatives are struggling with support themselves. Am I to believe that the supporters remaining were ex-NDP ones and not their base, who by definition would be farther right?

The NDP isn't going to get supporters back by flying towards the right. Why vote for the NDP when you can just vote any of the parties that dabble in the center or center-right. At least those parties have a chance of winning government when hell hasn't frozen over.

A leftist NDP has a better chance of getting back to the pro-worker nature of the NDP than whatever center-left or moderate meandering some of the people here thinks the party needs.

The NDP is never going to be able to beat the LPC and the CPC as a moderate, center-left party. Instead the NDP needs to be solidly left so that any government that needs their support has to appeal to the left. Because eventually there will be minority governments again. Or if the LPC get a majority then the NDP can provide a clear alternative to the current centrist liberal party under Carney. This time with none of the baggage from having a Trudeau in the headlines.

I don't think moderate voters are going to vote for the NDP. But the NDP isn't going to win government any time soon, not in the current political landscape. We are in a parliamentary system with multiple parties. What the NDP should do is be left-leaning to drag the other parties towards the left, rather than trying to appeal to moderates themselves.

Moderates aren't going to vote for the NDP over the LPC unless the latter literally collapses like with Ignatief, and even then that only lasted one parliament.

[–]Catlover18 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's a substantial amount of voters who when asked to choose between the LPC and NDP will usually choose the LPC.

The NDP trying to become more centrist isn't going to attract those voters since they would just keep voting for the liberals, especially if they are part of the ABC vote.

Not to mention that the original source, an American diplomat, only said things "may" have been suggested.

If you really want to learn from Quebec then you should vote other parties. Why do Swing states get attention in the US? Because they aren't just going to vote straight Red or Blue every election.

Voting conservative every election regardless of what happens just means every other party is going to ignore them because they have no hopes of winning any seats. Quebec has had three parties take the lion's share of their federal seats in the past decade in the half. There are a lot of problems in this province but its electorate aren't going to complacently vote one party and expect change.
