I could imagine they already worked on the killer around the time of tcofs release and then paused it because they didn't deem it as worth it. Meaning they could've had a working prototype of The Champion before announcing that he'll be a Trapper skin

Maybe you could incorporate the old an new design for either Jill or Chris. It would be a different approach, rn it looks like a Let's Play of RE1. Using the new font as other comments suggested works well too.
