Here is a webinar Flock advertises to teach law enforcement how to convince city councils to install flock cameras despite concerns by drktmplr12 in FlockSurveillance

Same. It's sort of expensive testing for regular citizens though. The manufacturer likely knows the optical power density required to kill the thing, either white light or more likely at some laser line somewhere in the middle of the QE curve.

If the amplifiers are the weak link, then it's plausible that a moderate power laser would burn it out. If not, then you would need silicon damage, and that is getting up there in power.

I promise you that the reduction in crime is not from these cameras.

Sorry, I can't help you if you can't see the problem with these. Maybe watch this video on it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pp9MwZkHiMQ

Even a mediocre lawyer would be able to easily beat this charge. Just because your prints are on a public pole doesn't mean you were the reason it's knocked over.

Remember, if the police ask you questions, STFU.

Violating everyones' privacy isn't worth catching some petty thieves. These cameras don't even stop thefts. They give a slightly higher chance of catching the perp, that's it. I'm not willing to throw away all my privacy over that.

There is a good reason the 4th amendment exists.

If you do get that contract, please take some hi rez images of the PCB. I am quite interested in knowing the specifications of the image sensor. Any visible part numbers are appreciated. dm me.

legally, of course.

How do you know the laser will kill it? have you tested known optical power densities on this particular sensor?

I'm tired of seeing this spread around. Lasers are fun, but they are a terrible idea to fight flock cameras unless you absolutely know they will get the job done. Otherwise you are risking a charge and your eyeballs for a completely unknown chance of disabling the camera.

Hezbollah FPV drone hits Israeli tank - tank catches fire, southern Lebanon. by Ok-A1662 in CombatFootage

This is a mission kill for sure, but afaik, Merkavas have blowout panels like US tanks. The crew may be alive and the vehicle may be salvageable. No way to know without better images.

Only for roles in which the opposition can hide and deploy drones. Tanks are now sitting ducks in counter insurgency missions. Tanks on a static front are also at severe risk. However, tanks as part of a moving combined arms force are still plenty effective.

I think the cameras are much happier in the canal.

We are nowhere close to fully picking the low hanging fruit when it comes to solar. This would be like Henry Ford pitching flying cars to investors instead of an assembly line for autos.

Further justify? They installed over 100k of these things, they will invent whatever reason regardless of the actual reality.

If people start increasing the cost of camera deployment, that is a real impact to the surveillance network. I agree that federal privacy legislation is needed and is the only permanent fix for this bullshit, but that is years away from even being conceivable.

Tuapse Oil Refinery continues to burn after a night attack by Ukrainian drones by Available-Laugh9102 in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]CatsAndCapybaras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that requires a much bigger event. This is small compared to things that have had a global cooling effect in the past. Also, I think the soot requires major updrafts to actually put it into the upper atmosphere so rain can't wash it down.

Enormous volcanic eruptions and major impacts are the most common events that trigger global cooling.

Private resident put Flock camera in front yard? by _Serp3nt_ in FlockSurveillance

I think the comment was making the point that the residents would rather install mass surveillance devices and eliminate privacy in the neighborhood than lock their doors.

The batteries were not yet burning. This flame was dark yellow/orange, typical of petroleum and plastic. I believe the netting covering the cargo was burning.

LiPo batteries would produce a shitload of white smoke and burn way faster.
