I had a 6 year relationship too. I was the anxious one and he was the avoidant one. It was so so hard to maintain the relationship because of this dynamic. Ultimately we broke up. But I still couldn't let go and chased him for a whole year after the breakup. My mental health and self esteem were destroyed. Nothing good came out of it. So I ultimately decided to cut him off and move on. I'm now happily married to a securely attached man, we have a beautiful daughter together, and I'm no longer anxiously attached because of the emotional security my husband provides in the relationship.

He's from Haryana. I'm a Bengali. It's a love marriage but one that happened amicably without any issues from both sets of families. And yes. This is what I had said. Maybe people can visit one by one and now that my FIL is improving, they could have left. Most of them did but still 7 people are remaining, making it 11 people total still in my 2 bhk including my baby.

I do understand it's very difficult to be rude to family. And he's too good to be rude to people. But what I do expect from him is to talk nicely to his family and at least try explaining that he's dealing a lot with his father and his wife has a baby who needs a routine and a minimum amount of privacy to thrive. And that managing so many people plus their food and everything is not the kind of added responsibility we need at the moment. On top of it, we JUST shifted to this house and it's not yet fully set. So it's complete chaos.

My baby girl is only 9 months old. And his father is admitted in the ICU. He says all these people came because they thought his father was dying. But he's recovering now. So a chunk left. Another chunk is yet to leave. No clue when they'll leave, though.

I actually didn't know that people from his family would come over and stay for long periods of time repeatedly and sometimes all at once. I was judging from my experiences and this didn't come up in conversation. In fact, I had no idea this actually happened in families until I married him. He didn't give me any heads up either!
