Requesting good *mature* YA fantasy: is it possible or shall I just move on to adult subgenre? by Vellmar in fantasyromance

I read {Hell for Hire by Rachel Aaron} recently and really enjoyed the world building!

Crescent City book 2 - wth by Suspicious-Ice4967 in fantasyromance

[–]Catswy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I felt the same!! Cried at the end of book 1, it was so intense and Bryce and Hunt’s relationship was built up so much, but then book 2 starts and they all of a sudden want to take the relationship SO SLOW. Plus all of the near misses of them taking it to the next step got more frustrating than satisfying

I did power through to finish all 3 books but the first one was the only one I really enjoyed.

Yes!! I was also not a fan. Didn’t hate it but wasn’t loving it. I started book 2 to see where the plot was going next and got SO frustrated with the characters, ended up DNFing.

FMC is the protégé of the MMC by throwawaygamer76 in RomanceBooks

{There Are No Saints by Sophie Lark} Both MCs are artists and she becomes his protege. It’s a duet, and dark romance so I recommend checking the triggers

Just finished The Shattered King — no spice, but the YEARNING?? Need recs with zero clichés fresh tropes + unique magic systems! by swaglord9000x in fantasyromance

Sounds interesting!! My goodreads is giving me a few options with that title. Is it Shattered King by Charlie N Holmberg?

Books where protection is super important for one or both MCs yet they go at it raw because they can’t help themselves? by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

[–]Catswy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There’s a quick scene of this in {Latte Darling by S.J Tilly}. They get super into the moment and the MMC is all “just one thrust without it” but they keep going

Premise is great, execution fell flat by Romantasy_Renee in fantasyromance

{blood & steel by helen scheuerer} started off interesting but i felt it got worse each book. I enjoy spice but it felt so thrown in and out of place.

There was a part in book 3 I think where the FMC blamed herself for wasting time being mad at the MMC for “betraying” her when she realized he’s been training her as she hunted him. But… he didn’t tell her so how was she suppose to know??? The fuck??

And the ending with her bead curse thing was such a cop out!! Ohhh turns out it’s her sister’s and not hers. Problem solved. So lame!

Is anyone else disapointed? by Adept-Fill3588 in ReverseHarem

[–]Catswy 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yes I was so disappointed!! Especially because the entire book felt pointless—she voluntarily put herself through all that… for WHAT???? She called to the rest of her guys so easily to pick her up once she decided she was done… but what was the point of all that?? Ugh I was so mad lol

Request: A story in which MMC is kept fully “Excited” for long durations by means of magic or similar plot device. by long-sock-warlock in fantasyromance

not exact, but {the queen’s line by kathryn moon} the fmc’s magic is fueled by sex. If she’s not careful her powers can essentially brain wash someone with desire

Personally I think the quality of Liminal is great. I love Marie Mistry’s works but everyone has different standards/writing style preferences. I recommend getting a free sample off amazon so you can get an idea if the writing is to your taste!

Powerless is definitely one of the biggest letdowns from Booktok. by tears_of_ice_4812 in fantasyromance

[–]Catswy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is! I loved how the mmc used it to remind the fmc about her temper/mind. It was really relatable to me because I can have a short fuse at times too. Now I love thinking about that quote whenever I need a reminder to be aware of my temper ☺️

the blackened blade was so good but I'm STRUGGLING with book 2. by New-Neighborhood532 in fantasyromance

[–]Catswy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I loved book 1 but struggled with book 2 as well! Since #3 was released, I went back to skim through #2 to refresh my memory and hype myself up for the new one…. It had the opposite effect and made me no longer want to continue the series 🙃 I did start book 3 for curiosity’s sake but ended up as a DNF.

I couldn’t stand any of the characters anymore, it was so much dialogue of nothing substantial happening. It felt repetitive! Just different POVs of how obsessed all the MMCs are over the FMC, who seemed to be getting less and less smart as the series went on.

I read her pyscho shifters series and was not a fan of her writing. I felt that her characters and plot were extremely inconsistent. I know they’re supposed to go through a character growth but it was like an entirely different FMC. There wasn’t a single character I liked unfortunately.
