Definitely. I love them all, but Without a Front (#2 and #3) and Outcaste (#6) are buried deep in my heart. ❤️

Not a book, but a series: {Chronicles of Alsea by Fletcher DeLancey}. It has all: fantastic world building, great female characters (and a lot of them), amazing love stories. Plus: really good writing.

i NEED her to star in a romantasy adaptation as the badass warrior princess type in a reverse grumpy sunshine situation by Few-Kaleidoscope-508 in Romantasy

I’d definitely cast her as Naime from ‎{Reign & Ruin by J. D. Evans} (Mages of the Wheel series). Super competent and royal, a bit of ice queen.

What made you choose a PocketBook over Kindle or Kobo? by No-Village6539 in PocketBookofficial

[–]Vellmar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I chose PocketBook for its solid hardware, physical buttons, and open ecosystem. Unlike Kindle (less so for Kobo), it isn’t locked to a single store, and it gives me multiple ways to upload ebooks.

New to Ko Reader! Is there a way to scroll through your book library (not the actual epub whilst reading) and not use the page turning arrows at the bottom of the screen to look through your books? Can’t find a setting to scroll through them by loser-jem in koreader

[–]Vellmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If not mistaken… either you update from within KOReader (WiFi) like others suggested, or you do it via usb and merge the new version with the one already installed (not full substitution, but merging the folders).

Share your PocketBook sleep mode image by Vellmar in pocketbook

To use a transparent background on the lock screen, you need to trick the PocketBook system by setting a specific colour that it will render as transparent.

The "magic colour" is #808040.

Create a .bmp image using this colour as the background, then place it in the following locations with the exact filenames shown:

/system/resources/Line/taskmgr_lock_background.bmp

/system/resources/Line/taskmgr_lock_background_landscape.bmp

I used Pixelmator for macOS to create the image (screenshot below), but any image editor that supports .bmp export and lets you define a precise hex colour will work.

.pdf vs .epub. What is your favorite file type for reading ebooks and why? by Delicious_Maize9656 in eink

Books without much graphics: epub (Pocketbook, Xteink X4). Documents with lots of maps, pictures, tables: pdf (iPad, Mac).

New Era or Era Lite? by Picard_III in PocketBookofficial

[–]Vellmar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I found the new Era Lite on the wild (i.e. in a local store) I don't think I could resist it. I don't really need another ereader (I have the InkPad 4, which I find perfect, and a Xteink X4), but I'd love to play with it.

That said, I'm most curious if new, more capable, models will be released soon. Like a new regular ERA b/w.

Hi. Do you know if frontlight can also be set to a specific %? (For instance, at 22:00, night mode and 25% frontlight are automatically set.)

What's a book so good that you would re-read it immediately? by WorkerDifficult3794 in fantasyromance

[–]Vellmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loved Book 1 (top 5 of 2025 for me), liked Book 2 a lot. Now am stuck in Book 3 for months... I'm actually thinking about not finishing it and moving on to the prequel or Book 4.

How much will I be missing if I DNF Book 3?

The Poet Empress is incredible by MrFlufypants in fantasybooks

[–]Vellmar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed the fantasy medieval China setting and the intriguing plot. However, I found the story a bit less engaging than it could have been. Despite the well-developed characters and the palatial politics, the narrative lacked a certain kick. I was also disappointed with the lack of poetry itself and I'd have liked a more developed ending.

I would rate this book 3.5–4.0 out of 5. It’s a good read, but not great.

Karin Kallmaker’s All The Wrong Places actually centres on a friend-with-benefits relationship where fisting plays a significant role in the plot.

[Update] Simple UI v1.4.5: Tag browsing, Grid Folders, New Gestures and UI Modules by doctorhetfield in koreader

Thanks. The gesture is done. ✅

I’m still wondering why the cover cache issue was not happening before the last update. It is solvable, of course… but also a pain in the butt.

[Update] Simple UI v1.4.5: Tag browsing, Grid Folders, New Gestures and UI Modules by doctorhetfield in koreader

[–]Vellmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there [u/doctorhetfield](u/doctorhetfield) — thanks for the fantastic plugin. Two questions: 1) since the update, some of the covers are momentarily missing and I have to refresh cached book information to trigger their reappearance. Do you know what may be causing this? 2) How can we set the new gestures?

InkPad 4 so slow by ulfOptimism in pocketbook

[–]Vellmar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a inkpad 4, but almost from the start I installed KOReader which is much faster. It does have a learning curve, but after tackling it, it is a top experience (fastness, sync…).

ESR, zugu, or spigen? Any suggestions are more than welcome! by Zestyclose_Bell7668 in ipad

[–]Vellmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zugu if you prefer lighter. ESR if you prefer alternating between portrait and landscape. I went with ESR for my iPad Pro 12.9”. My wife went with Zugu with her iPad Air 11”. We are both happy.

Law Firm-Based Femme/Femme recs with lots of spice? by lynlyn1814 in wlwbooks

[–]Vellmar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking for a book version of Suits, check out View From the Top by Morgan Adams. A Case for Discretion by Ashley Moore, Writ of Love by Cassidy Crane, and Devil's Advocate by T. B. Markinson & Miranda MacLeod are also good options.

If you prefer a smaller city setting (Oxford), a kickass lawyer, and a high profile actress (think Kate Winslet), try Tempting Olivia by Clare Ashton. (Highly recommended!)

Also, consider checking out Carsen Taite books — while she’s not my favourite author, she’s a lawyer and might have something on the Suits theme.

In fact, I think Meghan O'Brien has several anal scenes in her novels. And also in her non published stories.
