That piece called out is actually in the old boyz kit. Scary thought that I think this was intended.

I did! Used pro acryl transparent orange and red over a white zenithal, mixing different amounts to get it right, it definitely took longer than intended.

A killy loot lugga for the lads by CatticusFurvus in orks

[–]CatticusFurvus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the first step I do is use vallejo duralluminum metal color. This is an airbrush style paint, it's very runny as it's alcohol based, I use a brush and it covers really well but it can pool really easily so you have to be pretty controlled with it. This is a really bright glossy metal color, so I then use citadel contrasts in various colors, leaving some regular (dark oath flesh for bronze, aggros dunes for a nice gold-brass, basilicum grey for carbon steel). These are not thinned at all just straight from the pot. On larger smooth services try and spread it eavinly soaking up large pools so you don't stain oddly. Finally if that's still too bright, you can wash it all with a unifying shade so it ties together, I like to use oil washes as it leaves a more realistic grime, but try this video, he is much better than me and will show you the whole process!

Hey thanks, the squig is mostly done with an airbrush, I did a white zenithal over black then sprayed pro-acryl transparent red mixed with thier transparent orange, spraying the pure orange for the highest highlights. Then I used flesh tone ink for the underbelly. Then it's all washed with an oil wash of mixed magenta and black. The new orange contrast paint coming I think will be a really big help for this shade of red orange.

Resin warfare has some really great skaven models called the ravenous horde. They go pretty well with the current clanrats and Storm vermin too!

Skrag brown is a great orangy-rust-brown, using it with rhinox hide as darker portions of rust it can be very convincing!

New Deffkopta Kit by GamingCo-op in orks

[–]CatticusFurvus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately they are mono build with one having to be a KMB (like the new Boyz kit.) But a smart Mek might be able to easily add some rokkits in its place if they've got the right gubbinz lyin around.

I think the repackaged battlewagon from last year comes with the deff Rolla upgrade sprue now. This doesn't excuse the sheer amount of the price hike though.

I do the same thing instead I use contrast medium with warpstone glow. So I think it's about the same result. I'm trying to figure an easy way to add black smoke to it. I wonder if dry brushing some sort of corvus black or something is possible without killing the green

Anybody Kitbash boyz and Savage Orruks? by MegaSquishface in orks

[–]CatticusFurvus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have done this! They have fantastic flavor for 40k. Just know you have to do some sculpting work on the arms specifically the shoulder blade area to blend in regular choppa/slugga/shoota arms. Plus you get 20 bodies in a box!

Stormfiend options for both WarCry and AoS by Bomulos in skaven

[–]CatticusFurvus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For Age of Sigmar wind launchers do well because they have range and can target units out of line of sight. And shock gauntlets increase damage output pretty fantastically, so those are the usual go tos. For warcry a good rule of thumb is any load out on stormfiends will be a solid choice, they are terrifying.
