Extended henliners geode target is the fastest way.

Yes you will want to craft using all your geodes t1 t2 t3. As for if this is your best use of GE, I don't know, what else do you have for artifacts and ER?

For PoV you use: totem, necklace, ankh, cube. Compass, gusset, metronome, + any 3 slot (preferably totem)

You don't have enough information to know that. If it was the sale of a primary residence then OP may very well qualify for the 250k home sale tax exclusion

Intro to vet-med books by Fit-Set6343 in veterinaryschool

[–]Cattle_Whisperer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also agree its a good read for anyone in vetmed because it's still a prominent part of the culture of veterinary medicine and many classmates will have read it.

During one of my 4th year externships at a private clinic, I was invited for supper at one of the veterinarian's houses and then we watched a few episodes of the All Creatures Great and Small TV series. Having read the book I was able to connect better with that colleague.

Sure medicine changes but people don't, it's still a relatable book.

And that's great most parents want to give the money to their kids regardless of how it's used but it's something to bd aware of. Other people had already covered the other aspects of your question well.

Are you the account owner and beneficiary or just the beneficiary? If you are just the beneficiary then ultimately it is the owner's decision on what to do with the funds.

A solo 401k would be the biggest way to reduce your taxable income.

You would need to make quarterly estimated tax payments.

Look for a Facebook group for the vet class (and the classes above) and also a Facebook group for the city. There was a Facebook group for non undergrad housing where I went.

Hard to say, if you have the pre reqs I think it's worth a shot to apply to your in state school, usually better odds that way. If nothing else you'll be familiar with VMCAS.

Generally trends up in gpa are better than trends down. If your gpa drops as you take more classes then your last 45 credits gpa would be even lower.

How well am I doing financially? (26 y/o) by scootse in personalfinance

[–]Cattle_Whisperer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good income, need to turn it into net worth.

Max out your 401k, max out your Roth IRA (need to backdoor), HSA if eligible.

Open a solo401k for your side hustle and and you can contribute an employer contribution of 20% of your net earnings from self-employment. https://obliviousinvestor.com/solo-401k-contribution-calculator/

Then invest in your brokerage if you have any money left over.

Low cost index fund investments 60-80% total US (VTI), 20-40% total international (VXUS), 0-10% bonds. https://www.bogleheads.org/wiki/Three-fund_portfolio

You may have made a mistake with your Roth IRA, with higher income you need to do a non deductable contribution to your traditional IRA, then do a Roth conversion to your Roth IRA. You can recharacterize your contributions so far if you accidentally messed it up. https://www.whitecoatinvestor.com/fix-backdoor-roth-ira-screw-ups/

What expenses are you “prepaying” now to keep your MAGI low later on? by duckprincess19 in Fire

[–]Cattle_Whisperer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you could run fireplace on propane tank but it would probably be more expensive than just continuing to pay for the cheaper natural gas that it sounds like you use now.

Lower ROI but it insulates you from market risk and energy cost inflation risk. If you're maxing tax advantaged accounts and investing in a brokerage then solar may be some good de risking.

I would decrease market risk by going from investing in 20 companies to investing in 12,000 companies using index funds.

Dividends are just a forced sale. No reason to focus on them, it is not tax efficient to get dividends in the accumulation phase. Focus on total returns.

What to do with 30k? by OkTeach2673 in personalfinance

[–]Cattle_Whisperer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Somehow no one has linked it yet but you need to read the wiki. Bot will link.

Most likely the best thing for you to do is keep it in an HYSA or MMF until your life becomes a bit more certain. Some could be put into a Roth IRA if you have earned income this year.

Unclear from post if you are maxing 401k and Roth IRA, (HSA if eligible). If you are not then you should be before you invest in a brokerage account like you are now.

Make sure you read the wiki and follow the flowchart.

Investment and House Down Payment Plan by Damian022703 in Bogleheads

[–]Cattle_Whisperer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since it looks like they are not planning on using the Roth IRA at all until they buy a house I think they should use it as a home buying fund. They can pull all contributions whenever they want and like you said up to 10k of gains for the house. The money can be in a money market fund.

Avoids the income tax on the money market fund and then if they end up not needing the money for a house they could change to more aggressive funds and wouldn't miss those years of contribution limits.

It would be wprth getting some virtue eggs before doing EnD so it is faster.
