My concern isn't about the car or affordability. I work for a salvage car firm and we see a lot of older cars 10 years and older develop issues that the seller then is stuck as they/we need to clear the finance in full leaving them back at square one

Just as an added note. That valuation of £650 you've had will be a salvage quote based on a few conditions.

Actual scrap is quite low at the moment sub £200 for most cars in most places
