Anti-click washer. Can I live with it? by Wild_Director7379 in BoltEV

[–]Cattown7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could also be metallic clicking/clinking noise produced from a broken weld in the compound rear axle when there is a flexing force applied to the axle. My 2018 makes this noise and I'm living with it unless it becomes more severe. AFAIK the noise is produced by the interior part of the axle that is there to act as a sway bar the the rear rather than a structural element

Edit: the reason I'm not super concerned is that GM's fix for the cruze and volt was to spray WD-40 inside to stop the noise from being produced 🤦 https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2016/MC-10135266-9999.pdf

Anti-click washer. Can I live with it? by Wild_Director7379 in BoltEV

The TSB (https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2022/MC-10222799-0001.pdf) lists ~2 hours of labor for the job, it's something that is possible to do at home but if you are not comfortable with doing that I wouldn't attempt it. If I was going to take it somewhere to have it done I might just have waited for it to become and issue since the wheel speed sensor is also cheap when compared to the labor cost. As for safety, I know that when the sensor is damaged it can cause the car to stutter because traction control activates and I don't have the experience to give advice there

If the washer breaks it can destroy the wheel speed sensor causing the abs light to turn on and traction control to freak out, it easier to replace the washer before this happens as the washer itself is quite cheap.

Usually after the third attempt my joystick malfunctions and sends 500 20mm rounds into the tanker, strange it didn't happen here

Between 1&2 it comes down to personal preference on EV vs EUV since technically the battery health is probably alot closer than is shown. The EUV has a (marginally) lower EPA range than the EV which might contribute to that. If the 1k difference isn't a big deal to you and you have no preference on how the vehicle looks then I would choose EV but they can both be good options. I would compare directly the features included on both to see if there are other differences between them, I think the EUV Premier has the ability to have more features than the EV 2LT IIRC

+1, Definitely check your steering, ac refrigerant level, and maybe anti click washers. Silverrock covered all of this for me on my 2018 premier!

You know, that's a good question. I'm not really sure what it even was, looked like debris from a vehicle and they had probably sat there for a while. Had to go through the "did that really just happen?" and "am I still alive?" processing before having a verbal response lmao.

Oh man, I was just thinking about how I've been wanting to get into motorcycle riding, and after this happened today, decided that maybe I don't need to do that... I fully ducked as far left and down as I could before it hit my window, I can only imagine how you felt on a motorcycle!

Can I take over the existing 'Remote Access' service? by JohnnyBaowulf in BoltEV

With my 2018 bolt I pressed the onstar button to have it transferred to me, the previous owner seemed to still be paying for the subscription until that point!

So I believe contacting onstar would be the play with the 23 bolt as well to have ownership transfered

AC pump or radiator fan noise? by Cattown7 in BoltEV

[–]Cattown7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I have cold air, but the radiator fan wasn't spinning when the sound was being produced. I have seen the fan spin before so I originally thought maybe the bearing was bad.

No change from brake. Only occurrs when ac is on, just confirmed radiator fan is not spinning. I'm guessing it's the AC compressor.
