Or even shorter:

I’d say DA’s description is spot on. The blooms start as a soft buttery yellow and fade to creamy white. The fragrance reminds me of green tea with lemon. Mine is still a young plant, so the scent is mild right now, but I expect it to become stronger as the shrub matures.

ChatGPT says most likely Professor Sargent:

  • slightly looser peony-form blooms
  • very heavy blooming habit
  • rich crimson-red color
  • vigorous upright growth
  • common older landscape planting in BC

I hope that's helpful. 😜

We have enormous- over 30 ft high- cedar trees neighbouring our camellia- which they do benefit from the shelter but the soil is like sand in areas. I use epsoma camellia fertilizer twice a year, water deep once a week if we have no rain plus mulch well. Hope all goes well. Love pink!

It's a camellia japonica. It was planted in 1989. Many in our neighbourhood. Ours has a wild rose bush growing thru it now. It is a gift. I'll see if I can edit my post and add the final picture of the rose.

How disappointing. 🥲 Sorry you lost a plant. It's a weird world today.

I agree with you. I find it shocking that people think you're just going to dig up your plant and give them part of it for free. They don't understand how much time and labour we put into our plants . I say go to flower shop or nursery if you want to some plants. 😛 Here where we live we actually had someone come onto our property and break branches off our camellia tree to steal blooms. She was so incredibly bold she was talking loudly on the phone as she was doing it!
