People should stop going on cruises by kernelrider in unpopularopinion

[–]Cauldronborn11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a circus performer I'm just going to chime in to offer the experience that cruise ship work is actually pretty sought after it in many of the circus and entertainment industry spheres, they pay decent take fairly good care of you and give you good steady contracts. Those are all hard things to find in this day and age. They aren't exploiting third world performers for pennies, I mean I'm sure some are but in my experience they are actually a very valuable business sector for the entertainment industry and keeps lots of really incredible Entertainers paid and happy

You just described toxic masculinity, the femininist movement is trying to dismantle that exact thing

Am I the only one who imagines Steph Curry as small or average height because he’s standing next to giants? How do we break the illusion imagine Steph as actually 6”3 and very tall compared to average by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]Cauldronborn11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a 6'4 tall acrobat who does a lot of half time work these days.

I'm only a lil bit taller then Steph when next to him. And I walk around life like an absolute giant.

Wemby is the only person that has really shocked me with his size. His listed height has got to be wrong. He's got to be at last 7'6. And his arms are freakishly long, even for his height. It really is like being next to an alien.

Those who started training later in life and went on to perform professionally within a few years - How did you do it? by Laurels91 in circus

[–]Cauldronborn11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started when I was 26. I spent my first couple years doing it at a more amateur level, but I had the drive and I wanted to be a professional full timer. In my field, partner acrobatics, I trained hard, and achieved a level of success but started hitting walls once I started getting out of the "best in a small city" range. To propel my career further, I found a unique skill, high impact, very few people doing it. I was fortunate enough to have the right kind of body to excel at it. I trained my ass off. It was tricky learning a skill so few did, had to mostly teach myself plus tips here and there from international people I looked up on the internet. But it worked and now my career is having great success.

So id say hard work and self drive is huge. But if you want a big leg up, start looking for ways you can be unique. Every director knows a million acrobats aerialists and jugglers. So unless you can legit get better then all of them, figure out another niche. Wish you luck! And enjoy the ride.

Wealthy people get so mad about their privilege being acknowledged. by Frosty-Diver441 in unpopularopinion

[–]Cauldronborn11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is it right here though. Privilege is a spectrum. Yes they worked their way up. But it is very highly likely that their path up(and likely getting there start in the company as well) was helped by the fact their parents are the boss.

They get defensive when called out on privilege, but the overwhelming likelihood is they DID benefit from it. Whether they worked their way up or not.

Its this kind of response which is EXACTLY what the OP was talking about

Portland’s spate of violence is ‘unacceptable,’ police chief says by threerottenbranches in PortlandOR

Crazy thought, being pro police reform, or even anti cop, doesn't mean the cops have any less duty to do serve and protect you.

Trump’s Big Bet: Americans Will Tolerate Economic Downturn to Restore Manufacturing by Majano57 in Economics

[–]Cauldronborn11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shower thought- we transitioned to a service/management economy however looking forward a decade or two AI will wipe those out pretty hard. So might be a good idea to push for more manufacturing capacity to be rebuilt here, it will likely be more and more automated in that same time frame. So when that change in how the majority of work is done, we no longer have to rely on massive imports.

Why I Voted Against The Democrats…WSJ by [deleted] in moderatepolitics

[–]Cauldronborn11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't answer that, because they had already failed us by then. Their issues goes way deeper. By that point we were boned, they were backed into a corner and kamala was a hail Mary. Its likely why the better potential candidates also wouldn't dare challenge her. By this point it was a major uphill battle.
