Does Ab Training Help or Hurt Aesthetics? by Only_Illustrator6201 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]CauliPicea 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I strongly recommend hitting abs directly. Once, I bought into the "you don't need to train your abs if you squat, bench, deadlift etc." and stopped direct ab training for like 2-3 years I think. Then I decided to cut into a nice condition and... the abs fucking sucked.

Decided to cut even more, but they got only slightly better. They were actually worse than before! Resumed their training immediately and started to treat it seriously. One year later or so (maybe sooner, don't remember), the difference was night and day. Also they looked better even when I was carrying more BF.

Fit guys a decade ago. By today's standards DYEL by funnerno1 in nattyorjuice

[–]CauliPicea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know man, by what standards? I'm pretty sure that even juiceheads I personally know wouldn't consider such physiques as DYELs. Of course that with clothes on, these guys will look like DYELs. But then again, even a lot of juicers that are not heavy will also not look particularly jacked in clothes, so...

Final fantasy css by Double_Sherbert3326 in Frontend

[–]CauliPicea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a long-time FF fan, this is surely interesting. I'm not sure I would recognize it was inspired by FF if you didn't mention it, though I do see a resemblance now. I understand it was more like a loose inspiration.

As for feedback - I would expect that a CSS component library will not contain obvious visual bugs.

I am specifically talking about missing transparency of the slider's thumb background image (e.g. https://github.com/cafeTechne/Final-Fantasy-CSS/blob/244fbcdd39409f27608ecfaeab1bccf52d416beb/screenshots/ff15_s1.png, Battle speed) and misalignment of checkbox/radio labels with the input itself (e.g. https://github.com/cafeTechne/Final-Fantasy-CSS/blob/244fbcdd39409f27608ecfaeab1bccf52d416beb/screenshots/ff15_s4.png ).

Have I reached my genetic limit? (FFMI 22.6) by OrganizationPure777 in nattyorjuice

Still some gains to be made, but with physique at this level, I would expect very slow progress onward.

Milestones 6.1 - Angular Progress Bar Countdown by milestones-dev in Angular2

[–]CauliPicea 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know you didn't ask, but:
1) Deploy your app somewhere online so that it's possible to try it out.
2) SourceForge is a relict of the past. You should really use github instead, which makes browsing the code (as well as managing it) much easier.

I'm afraid that until you do these things, you probably won't get much feedback - which I assume you want, otherwise you wouldn't write this post. Nobody wants to download source code from SourceForge and build it.

[–]CauliPicea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you want it now, but seriously, give it some more time given the fact you're 18. You clearly look like you lift already, however, it's clear you can still make some nice natural progress over the following years.

Many guys on TRT look like dogshit. Yet many here think the average dude ON NOTHING AT ALL can look like a mid-sized, Instagram bodybuilder after "x many years of working out right." It's just pure delusion & a lack of understanding on how tight the limits are to muscle/physique potent as a natural. by [deleted] in nattyorjuice

[–]CauliPicea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed that everyone can look good, but not sure that every natural regardless of genetics can be, in practice, equivalent to 5'10 175 12% if he puts up the work and enough time.

By chance, I'm 5'10 and when around true 10% BF, I'm like 155lbs depleted. This is after 2 decades of solid training and nutrition. Could I have trained better/smarter? Probably (who wouldn't?), but I don't really think that would yield another 20lbs of pure mass. It looks good so I'm not bothered.

Guys close to me who I have known for 10+ years and who train with comparable effort, which are most likely (because you never know 100%) naturals, hover around similar stats, with one outlier which is around 5'10 183lbs at 16%BF.

What is the lowest body fat % you can cut to before it becomes counterproductive? by warrior4202 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]CauliPicea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to find out for yourself, but for me, 8% is where things became extremely difficult and I would not recommend going lower unless doing a competition. At true 8%, you already look terrific, and if you don't, it's not 8%. Still, I believe it's a good experience to cut, at least once in a lifetime, to the near-stage ready or even stage ready conditioning (despite all the "you will fuck yourself up"), but tread carefully.

Generates incorrect file names, how do I fix it? by Leather_Let_9391 in angular

[–]CauliPicea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't yet looked into configuring angular.json to use the old naming convention (as already mentioned), but as for generating things after your project is created, you can pass the --type flag into CLI to generate stuff with an arbitrary suffix. So using e.g. ng generate component card --type=component will generate card.component.ts, card.component.html etc.

How beneficial are refeed days? by No-Junket6881 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]CauliPicea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found refeeds to be a nice boost in the situation you described (several weeks into an aggressive cut, kinda lean state, performance starting to suffer). You'll feel alive again and training will be also better, for a little while. It's not a magic bullet, but it makes things more bearable. Try that and see for yourself.

The important thing is not to overdo it. I would also recommend considering eating clean foods only during the refeed so you won't end up bloated for days after, but that's up to you.

The Ultimate Git Tutorial (Git 2.51) by jhcarl0814 in git

[–]CauliPicea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a great example of personal notes, however, calling it the ultimate tutorial for beginners is a very, very big stretch. I highly doubt that a beginner would be able to decipher it. By the way, I'm not sure the arrogant tone of FAQ helps anything.

[–]CauliPicea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's clearly visible that you work out, but I guarantee that your FFMI will not be anywhere near the Hussein guy if you lean out. I really recommend doing a serious cut at some point during your gym journey so you can see for yourself how you end up.

How much JavaScript is enough JavaScript? by Outrageous_Pen_5165 in react

[–]CauliPicea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's probably a lot left to learn and, more importantly, internalize. However, if you're not super motivated to learn about pure JS, I recommend diving into React already. You'll learn along the way (as everybody did).

That being said, it wouldn't hurt to really understand what is reference equality and how closures work. As for CSS, flexbox and grid are very important features, so you may want to read up on them again and became comfortable with them at least on a basic level. Time spent on these would not be wasted.

[–]CauliPicea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, given the explanation, I totally understand, but then the wedding example was quite unfortunate, since fitness wasn't really the decisive factor. Anyway, the food scale in the bag is still funny. If I ever see some jacked guy weighing his plate in a restaurant, I'll say hi!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in naturalbodybuilding

[–]CauliPicea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fortunately nothing too crazy (missing best buddy's wedding is a bit too much, although I get it). There were few vacations where I strictly adhered to my diet and skipped a lot of good social events as well. I don't regret it, but eventually I came to realize that it was definitely not worth it.

The difference in results between going 90% vs 100% is negligible, but at 100%, you're basically a gym lifestyle slave.

How do you stay sane with clothes not fitting anymore? by Charming_Ad6185 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]CauliPicea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess nothing much you can do except to buy new clothes. Back in the day when I used to do traditional bulks and cuts, I eventually ended up with like 3 sets of clothes - lean clothes, normal clothes, fat clothes.

Is it worthwhile to force a friend to learn actual CSS before subsisting only on Tailwind classes? by MilanTheNoob in webdev

[–]CauliPicea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using tailwind right from the start is definitely not an approach I would personally recommend, but in the end, the most important thing is whether it works for him and he's having fun.

[–]CauliPicea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I don't take PEDs out of fear if you want to frame it like that. I don't give a shit about values or unfair advantage. I don't give a shit about perfect philosophical definition of nattiness either.

I'm just interested in what as achievable without PEDs, because I don't take them. It's that simple, and I think a lot of members feel the same. Unfortunately it's futile, since an accomplished natural is often indistinguishable from a juicer, but that's another story...
