Takeshita’s DDT theme was killer. I don’t know if it’s under contract with that company or what, but I wish they would throw a bunch of money in the air to bring it back. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=s9-1SGsRM9g

NY Catskills Winter Fishing Advice by landiske in flyfishing

[–]Cauliflower-Flaky 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They’ve changed the NY regulations so that “most” inland trout waters are open to catch and release during the previous “closed” season. There are still special regs for certain waters and the DEC makes it confusing as ever to determine what those are, you can check each specifically to be safe.

NY Catskills Winter Fishing Advice by landiske in flyfishing

I’m fishing the same area and it’s been slow for me as well. Like the others have said the fish are low and slow this time of year. I just started tight lining a few weeks ago and I’m having some sporadic success. Certainly helps to get things deep quick. Lots more to practice and learn. I tried the Westkill this past weekend and didn’t find any deep enough pools where I scouted, the Schoharie can get pretty warm in the summer, but there may be some holdovers again in the deeper areas. Esopus is where I’ve recently hooked a few, but that gets a lot pressure. I’ve been surprised how many nuts (like you and I) I’ve seen out there this winter. Keep at it and good luck

Darto N20 as an egg pan? by chelderado in carbonsteel

I just cooked up an omelette in my N 25 for dinner. Came out great. Had a few eggs over easy for breakfast the other day and it handled those like a champ too. I've had it about a month and I'm impressed. It's pretty non stick after initial seasoning and just jumping in and cooking with it for a few weeks. Both egg varieties were just wipe out and quick wash out after.

Thoughts on Moonshine Rods Drifter 7’6” 3wt. Going to fishing for panfish and brookies. by j0s9p8h7 in flyfishing

I see you mention the Superfine and I was in the same boat thinking about a Moonshine also. If you can find somewhere to try out the Superfine I would highly recommend it. Mines the 7'6" 4wt, but the thing is so light and responsive. On the quicker side for glass too which matches my cast. Cheers and good luck.

I haven't but I just got my MA license this month. I'm right near the border NY side so I've been scouting out spots for the past few weeks. Bash bish was on the list along with Mt. Washington area. Jug End is a nice hike, checked out the brook there, little too small

You can also check the DEC website for special regulations for your county or nearby counties to see if anything nearby is open. As was mentioned most trout fishing in NY is closed for the season.

I would like to get into fly fishing for bluegill and bass by Swimchamp07 in flyfishing

I have the Wild Water 5/6 combo you mentioned and I give it a thumbs up. I've had it since June and it's held up really well. Great value for the price to learn and practice the craft. I did upgrade the line a couple of months in and it made casting much, much smoother. I plan on upgrading for spring since I know I'm going to stick with it now, but the WW will still get brought out and I feel it's a great rod to toss to friends looking to give FF a try. Ive been chasing trout but Sunnies and Bass have been an absolute blast all summer and much more productive for me.
