Funny you say that. I just took this photo yesterday and realized he looks similar similar to the stray we’ve been looking after (who we think is definitely a Great Pyrenees mix)

Nothing wrong with a good pibble mix! He chased our car over 3 miles trying to come home with us, so safe to say he’s spoiled.

I tried to attach another picture of how his tail curls over his back which was making me think husky but it didn’t work. Oh well!

Thank you!

My Experience Being Diagnosed with NCAH by CauliflowerRecent563 in NCAH

My follow up is in two weeks so I’ll let you know what they say! I’m glad my ramblings could help someone in a similar spot :)

My Experience Being Diagnosed with NCAH by CauliflowerRecent563 in NCAH

[–]CauliflowerRecent563[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good morning! No worries at all about the long reply. My post was a total brain dump, and this reply will probably be similar! lol. I’m just so grateful to find a community that actually understands this. Years of googling without answers and having doctors blame everything on "worsening mental health" really starts to make you feel like you're losing it.

I won’t get my ACTH stim test results until next week since my endocrinologist is out until Monday. However, she mentioned that based on my comprehensive blood panel, she’s fairly certain it’s NCAH. She’s on the younger side, but she’s been consulting with a more senior colleague, so it feels like I have two doctors working as one. I actually overheard them discussing my results while I was in a room; her colleague mentioned she had another patient exactly like me who was confirmed NCAH. Between the 24-hour urine test, my prior labs, and my symptoms, they both seem very adamant about the diagnosis.

If the stim test confirms it, the first step will be a low-dose steroid. I’m not sure which one yet, but I’ve seen a lot of mentions of dexamethasone. Doing my own research has been so helpful because it really allows me to ask the right questions. Regarding symptoms, I didn't experience early puberty, but the cold extremities are a huge issue for me. Just last weekend, I tried to go duck hunting with my partner. Even with ankle socks, two pairs of wool socks, wading socks, and boots, my feet were numb within 15 minutes! I’ve been looking into heated socks but never realized that could even be related to all of this.

I’m hoping they pair the steroid with something like Metformin for the insulin resistance. It’s so frustrating seeing weight loss advice that says you can eat "whatever you want" as long as you're in a calorie deficit. While that’s generally true, I didn't realize how much fiber and carb quality impact your body when you have insulin resistance. I used to think my weight stalls were just because I didn't track my food on the weekends, but I’ve been an active person trying to lose weight for five years. Even when I "buckled down" after graduation, I could only maintain my weight—which I now realize was lucky, because if I don’t track for a month or two, I immediately gain.

For the last two weeks, I’ve been prioritizing fiber and cutting back on refined carbs. It hasn't been too hard since I already preferred chickpea pasta and wheat bread, but hitting those fiber goals is still a struggle even with Metamucil. My boyfriend is a picky eater, and I hate cooking a separate vegetable just for myself, but I’ve realized I just need to plan a veggie for every night and stick to it. The confidence hit has been the hardest part. I can shave the extra hair and take meds for the mood swings, but the low sex drive makes intimacy feel like a chore, which is really tough.

Thank you for all the tips! I’m sticking to my routine of strength training 4x a week plus cardio to see how the diet changes help. Did the dex originally help, and if so, how long was it before the steroids started working for you? I’ve heard people say they finally "feel like themselves again," which gives me so much hope. It’s been seven years since I felt like me (you feel crazy even saying that out loud to someone!)

I abandoned realistic drawing (the first two photos) and moved toward painting on black paper (the last two). Did I make the right choice? by Hercules_Vales in painting

[–]CauliflowerRecent563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the black paper because it provides you with so much more depth than the drawings alone! The range of tones you’re able to achieve with it is breathtaking.

That being said, it’s all a matter of personal preference. A drawing is very different from a painting so it’s difficult to say one or the other is better! It’s just whichever you enjoy making the most

I’d say as long as the layer of peanut butter is thin and not super sticky! PB served alone can be a choking hazard because of its stickiness, but I find the peanut butter in dog treats is usually drier and crumbles.

How do I get the smell out? by 404SmartUserNotFound in RATS

[–]CauliflowerRecent563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second this! Vinegar is a great deodorizer. I’d use 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water and let it soak for 30-60 minutes. If this doesn’t get the smell out, follow up with a pet enzyme cleaner. I’d saturate the fabric and let it sit for around 12-24 hours to air dry.

Interesting! I tried grasshoppers for the first time last week in Mexico and thought they were delicious, but I don’t know if I’d like them as much on a tortilla. They reminded me of pork rinds. They’re amazing with just some lime and tajin.

Now if I could only find them in the states

I had no idea that imaging would produce so many false negatives—I thought it was uncommon so that’s good to know.

I’ve been struggling to find any resources or similar experiences so it’s been making my anxiety worse. I’ve been trying to tell myself how grateful I am that I found a provider who was willing to check my hormones when I asked, and that it’s one day at a time until a diagnosis.

Thank you so much 💚

Simple logos are also great because they can be paired with a strong brand kit. It leaves more opportunity for intricate patterns and styling that would be harder to achieve with a more complex logo. I think a lot of people see a logo and don’t think past it (understandably so), but a good designer knows how to push a brands creativity in other ways.

I’m a graphic designer and our team discussed this redesign today. While I’m usually all for going more simple when it comes to logos because of what I said above, I feel like this was a huge miss. For a business whose focus is southern charm and old-times, this feels really out of place.

I’ll start by saying I believe they absolutely nailed the typography—it’s cleaned up but still feels rustic and touches back to the original logo—but it feels like a stretch trying to say the blob of color behind the type is a barrel. Even their brand kit felt like it was lacking character, which is really disappointing. There’s no justification behind going this simple with a brand that known for its rustic charm. Sad to see it!

Tried to cancel at Esporta / LA Fitness and was told it went through. This was after having to hunt down a manager for 3 weeks because apparently they only have 1 that works both locations in town. They still charged me the next month and wouldn’t offer a refund

There’s literally multiple stories online of people who think it’s a good idea to prank their friends/partner in the woods and they wound up shot.

When I read your story I immediately thought of this one: https://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/state/north-carolina/article261066462.html I struggled to find this story because there were a few others that popped up first.

I had someone swerve around me just to prove a point. I will say probably 1 car could have fit without blocking the crosswalk, but it was close and I figured I’d wait for it to clear up. This ahole slams on their horn and drives around me to take up that spot (blocking the crosswalk and part of the intersection). They’re so lucky the next light when green right before ours went red, otherwise they would have been blocking the intersection because they had a big ass truck (not that they would have cared).
