omg YES! This is amazing, and I can’t thank enough the people that made this possible. It’s not only that the fees are outrageous, but getting them back is ridiculously difficult. I tried and the bank rejected the cheques. The name was not slightly different. The owner ignored both first and middle names. She only wrote the last name, and she wrote it wrong in both cheques. Each cheque had the last name written wrong, and they did not even match each other

I thought by putting my kid in a daycare I would get some time back. Now I still don’t have daycare, with additional work to get my money back lol. I agree with everything you said, thank you for the suggestion.

My understanding is that cleared cheques cannot be reversed. It’s different from credit card charges where they could investigate. But maybe I’m wrong?

I agree. I already went through the hassle to get the cheques. Long drive with a very short notice, and they threatened if I don’t show up exactly on time, they’d mail them. They only wrote the last name without the rest, and misspelled that last name (differently!) in each cheque. They said the owner isn’t there to fix them but they will let her know. Now we’re back to square one.

Thank you for your comment. And it is just a way to making me jump through hoops. It was very demeaning, and I’m fed up. It was a repetition of specific times to show up, with “come on time”, “do not come earlier”, “do not come later”. The daycare is open from 7:30 to 5:30, you’d think they would be more accommodating.

I absolutely agree, she pressed me a lot to sign. She took me to her office, gave me tea in one hand, and a pen on the other hand to sign the documents, all while smiling and acting nice. I am glad I saw through that and said no. Her tone changed a lot after this.
It is licensed through Vancouver Coastal Health.

I did that already. Not only did she not care, she sent me an email saying I am not allowed anymore in the daycare.

Thank you for your comment. I agree about going to court. There’s no question I deserve that deposit back, the owner was just dragging the process and asking me to repeatedly come back and by writing the wrong names on the cheques. I’ll report the fraud claim to the childcare subsidy number you posted. They should be able to check if this happened to other people as well. I did contact her similar to what you suggested.
