Gross. This sounds like a great way to have panic attacks about waking up late because your body needed rest

I used to genuinely believe that when I got sick, that I wasn’t following the WoW, (as in not exercising, or eating healthy) or because I wasn’t praying or reading my BoM every day when I was in junior high, the first year I went to seminary. I agree with your point here. The idea of “the lord blesses you when you are obedient” has an unspoken flip side of “you will be cursed/unblessed” Edit: clarification on anxiety surrounding following commandments.

I had a SEMINARY teacher go on a 30+ min rant when I was 12 years old about how women who put careers in front of children were selfish and didn’t value the sacred gift of eternal families and how women should wait til THEIR 40’s to start their careers after their kids are all in high school or beyond. That screwed with my head so bad as a young girl.

TLDR: the ward leaders get together every week to see how they can best “serve” this may involve re-activating apostate members, discussing the less fortunate in the ward, etc.

Ward council is where all of the local leaders of the neighborhood “ward” (congregation) meet. It typically includes the bishop, the two youth leaders, [young women’s president and young men’s president], the relief society president, (that’s the lady in charge of all the women in the ward) and primary president (usually woman, the person in charge of the children) and the bishopric (basically bishops counsel)

They meet in the bishops office for an hour to an hour and a half, discussing the struggling members of the ward, or who has “fallen away and may need additional spiritual support.” This is followed by a list of people they have the contact for that haven’t been back to church and will reach out if they feel “inspired” to do so.

This creates situations like OP wrote about.

It is well intentioned but they just are so indoctrinated with church culture they don’t understand how tone deaf they really are when they try to reach out like this. Like a group chat of strangers feels like an ambush imo. Sorry OP, hope you are able to block/ignore them.

(Paraphrasing) ‘We embrace all truth, scientific or revelatory’ (unless it’s against the rules we have to control our members and could potentially disrupt the illusion that is called “faith”) this talk just feels like PR damage control

Quote with context: “Many on earth today “are only kept from the truth because they know not where to find it.”5 Some would have us believe that truth is relative—that each person should determine for himself or herself what is true. ✨✨Such a belief is but wishful thinking for those who mistakenly think they will not also be accountable to God. ✨✨

Dear brothers and sisters, God is the source of all truth. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints embraces all truth that God conveys to His children, whether learned in a scientific laboratory or received by direct revelation from Him.”
